I did not use a bot and was 44. I read another poster who used no bot and was in the top 40.

I'd bet at least half of the top 100 used no bot.  Probably a small percentage used bots.

I agree that wet shavers as a group are probably skewed away from the inclination or ability to use a bot. Myself included. Never even occurred to me until I read about it later.

But maybe I'm just an optimist (and for the record, i was not on the top 40, and did not win a lotto spot)

You can buy them, you can find them as free ware/ share ware or whatever. If you really want one you don't have to have the technical savvy to write your own code.
Well that is dissapointing. I would feel better if someone was so dedicated to this hobby that they were writing their own bot scripts to get an edge. I guess I shouldn't be surprised Sad
But I still hope this is not common place.

I have no direct knowledge and was purely speculating - I know its hard when faced with bitter disappointment after months of hopeful waiting.

Fair enough. Yesterday was definitely disappointing for several hundred of us. But there are 40 (plus whoever got one of the stock items later on) who are pretty pleased with how things played out. There is always next time...Or not.

I'll probably get my head in my hands here but here goes Undecided

I was lucky enough to get on the list this time so I may be being easy on Wolfman because of it so bare with me. From reading what has happened to other companies with similar products who have gone down the route of outsourcing to satisfy demand for such a specific product it doesn't seem to have ended well or quickly for them. This disappoints everybody again, something that if we are being honest no manufacturer wants to do.
I do believe the guy is just trying to find a way to please everyone but it's just not possible to do it with the rabid irrational way we get with these products in this game and I include myself in that.
Trust me I've had the issues in the past with the various Razorock "limited edition prototype" offerings , the Paladins etc that I couldn't get despite me willing to throw money at them and them more than willing to take it. This is not to criticise but It doesn't help guys who are trying to buy their first Wolfman, Wolf Whiskers etc that because of our nature they are having to compete with guys who have already got examples of the product but are so impressed and want to buy again.
I certainly wouldn't want people to go down the pitiful road Mongoose went down with QC and basic manners going out the window in trying to satisfy demand.
With Mongoose in the beginning the wait was long but you were certain to get one and people weren't happy then they outsourced or changed machinists and the products were more available but of decidedly a lesser quality and in my experience it told on their attitudes to customers who weren't happy with the product (me being one of them). Razorock was a well designed and superbly marketed farce but if you were lucky and took a day off work to press F5 on your keyboard the wait wasn't long and people weren't happy.
People weren't happy with Wolfman taking a huge order list and sitting on it until it was completed and now people aren't happy that he is taking a smaller list with the intention of getting through it quicker and opening up the list again as well as making an effort to have stock products available monthly as well. It sounds like he is waiting to get the right guy whom he knows the standard of his work to help him in the machine shop I assume so the quality does not drop while ramping up production.
The bottom line is we love buying from guys like Cadman , Brad Sears , Wolfman etc because we know these items are a labor of love to a certain extent and the quality is undoubtedly high but paradoxically that is why they can be difficult to get our hands on because they are hand made and take time to produce. They are not Merkurs that can be churned out 24 hours a day and of a far lesser quality in finish but granted do the same job , but that's the point they for the most part don't give the same level of satisfaction a ATT , Wolfman or the Timeless razors will. I appreciate ATT put a fantastic product out and are always available and I have 2 of my own but from anyone who owns a Wolfman the consensus is the final product is just better as a luxury item.

None of these methods of "quantitative easing" on the manufacturers parts are going to please all of us all the time and I can certainly understand why people who got on to the first 40 initially and subsequently didn't get into the final draw of 40 will be pissed off and will probably swear off Wolfman in future and I've no idea why James went down the lottery route at the final stage. Maybe the way this Waitlist webpage works is not necessarily apportioning you a number that is relevant to when you joined the list since it was already double subscribed in less than 2 seconds and we are dealing in such a small time frame and he felt it would be fairer to do it at random once the list was closed, I've no idea.

Again, I was #2 on the list, and I assure you I didn't use a bot. I was clicking refresh repeatedly for a few minutes before the list opened, and I had my mouse positioned over where I thought the "join" button would be.

Interesting. Where are you located geographically? Maybe you're just closer to Wolfman. Have you read Flash Boys by Michael Lewis? About how hedge funds were gaining micro-second advantages by using fiber optic cables and being closer to the exchanges allowing them to essentially front run every body and make out like, well, like bandits. Regulators knew about it and just don't care. Hello my little pigeon,

Sorry, I've digressed again.

I'm based in San Francisco, but I just have standard Comcast Internet. I think it was just luck.

Flash Boys is a fascinating read for sure. I happen to work in an analytics role for a well-known internet company, so I suppose it's possible (though I seriously doubt it) that James looked me up along with the other top entrants and was like... yeah, that guy was probably using a bot.

To me, it's more likely that he couldn't be sure if it was rigged and opted for the lottery to be on the safe side.

I have read all the above comments and decided it was time to post a comment. I did not use a bot but just old fashion computer skill with my fingers. I was number 24 until oops, a computer glitch knocked me to 168.

In June 2015 I was on the list until oops, you guessed it, another computer glitch kicked me off the list.

Now James being a gentleman said no worries, there will be another list, which came in July 2016 with a price increase. His response to this list problem, do not worry in a couple of months will be another list and price hike. And another computer glitch.

So after being patient I think it is time to drop the fact that James is an unscrupulous businessman. This is not brain surgery. He actually has a list of those that got dropped in 2015, should they not have been on this 2016 list? Or at least he could have offered them a chance to buy a stock razor. None of these men dropped from 2015 have a Wolfman, they would use them personally not resell on eBay.

James seems to prefer to offer and place on his list eBay resellers. That is his choice, but that is not how a gentleman businessman works. Just ask Triad, UFO, or Simpsons. These men are true gentlemen. James likes to blame his computer glitch, his code for I like the higher prices resellers get so I can increase prices.

I have listened to James excuses for 13 months, now it is time to move on IMO. James will sell to those who hype his product and resell for a profit, not the true gentlemen shavers.

Now if this is not bad enough, my brother received an email from a 'friend' of James, an eBay reseller who claimed he was given 3 of the 40 slots by James. He is selling these spots and wanted to know if my Brother wanted one. I cannot print his response to this individual. So you can see I doubt James is such a great gentleman as he always has a computer glitch to blame.
