Wolfman Brush Handles

Cool that James is getting into the brush market but imo he missed the mark on this offering. 

Last year I designed and had 2 custom brush handles machined out of stainless steel to mimic the WRH-7 handle, then sent then off for a final mirror polish.  Both the maker and the polishing shop did an awesome job.  Will post the info on both a bit later.  I plan to have all engraved by Otto Carter if he is still game to engrave another Wolfman for me.

I had 2 made but haven't decided which one to keep yet since they are slightly different.  It was the first time the machinist had attempted this sort of work on stainless steel.  No way to disappear the bottom cap weld entirely but you can hardly see it unless you look very closely.  I may let Otto decide if he can engrave over the weld line or if he needs to avoid it.  The set looks pretty darn good without engraving so I may leave them alone except for installing a nice knot into the handle.

Amazing Job Done  I like it, it’s nice to have brush to match with razor brand and I don’t personally know James or his intentions, but his new Wolfman Brush handles I like it maybe due to fact I like beehive design brush handles lol..

I would place Plisson knot from Paragon Shaving or Timberwolf on your Handles would look nice but YMMV.

Thanks for the tip on the knot.  By the way several commenters have noted titanium would be a good choice for a brush handle.  Perfect for a titanium razor set.  The handles I had made in SS are HEAVY, jaw dropping heavy.

 Very True lol Titanuim would be amazing Choice the only down side it’s such a tough material to work on, aluminum is great but I would prefer nice resign brushes that are high quality made with attention to detail..

I think titanium would be way too heavy for a brush handle, unless it is hollow. Aluminum is really the most suitable metal. The Blackland synthetic brushes with aluminum handles are really excellent, and a great deal more attractive than these Wolfman ones. There was a thread somewhere about the Oumo titanium brush handles a while back, and they were really, really heavy.

I (Partially) agree, I purchased the above Alpha Titanium Bulldog Handle with a 28mm V&C Manchurian Badger Knot on BST about a month ago. It is NOT hollow (as some Titanium handles are) and with the V&C Manchurian Knot the brush weighs 158 grams (per my digital scale) This is rather heavy, BUT I have other lighter brushes, and I like having a variety of brushes, as well as other shaving items. The handle is 62mm tall and the V&C knot is great ...

A razor vendor gifted me an ebony brush with brass trim. I moved it along pretty quick. AFAIC a metal handle on a shaving brush is out of balance, no matter who makes it, or which metal is used. A non starter with me.

A metal handle is a metal handle is a heavy handle.  C&R, LOVE their past work…had one in Ti, loved that brush.  It’s new owner won’t sell it back to me.  I went with an Alpha Ti with a special hand tied on recommendation from one of my pals here.  I LOVE the brush, knot, whole shabang.  It’s a heavy heavy brush.  Aesthetics gorgeous.

DuFour makes RAZORS, and is VERY good at it.  Does this mean I have to wait longer in line for my next razor build because people are getting in line for an aluminum beehive brush handle?

I want to see your finished product please.  

Have you given thought to whom you’re sending for knotting service? I’d love to see you use two different Artisans on the knotting.  That’s a cool project, I wish I knew how to engrave, I’d love to put a continual peony and hibiscus floral pattern on the one to the left!

I don’t feel this is a must have. I don’t think of Wolfman as a brush maker. Not sure the name has any particular value in this respect, or that his reputation for precision machining matters for a brush handle. I would think of it more as merchandising, like t-shirts or hats, and $275 is a lot of money for something like that.

I agree aluminum doesn’t really gel with Wolfman either, but titanium would probably be much too heavy for a brush handle.

I personally would prefer that Wolfman gets someone to make nice resin brushes for James or in-house like Peter Wolf does with WW colarboration wouldn’t be bad idea?, but maybe this is his first start to see how well it will do? Yes not cheap lol but I guess it’s his Desing and “Wolfman” brand that’s why it’s got a price tag..again who am I to say anything I’m just commenting and using my own opinion here to share this…

If money wasn’t a subject sure why not to have it lol but again I personally like certain razors to have and brushes to have one thing after anther to pile I don’t see a point, again this is subjective right lol.
