Williams Mug Shave Soap

Fuzzy my man, I finally was able to find a puck of Williams at the fleamarket. Lathers just fine for me. I alternate Wool Fat and Williams Wednesday. This week is The Fat

Resurrecting this thread to say Williams can be a really good soap. I have a very coarse beard and the slickness of Williams really does the trick. I have a Trader Joe's synthetic brush that is short and really kicks up a great, thick lather from Williams, starting with a dry puck.

I did purchase some vintage made in Glastonbury, CT that is impressive.

I am a fan. Its easy to lather, I cover it (not drown) with some hot water in a William marvy rubber mug while in the shower and beat up some amazing slick lather with an omega boar. The slickness of the lather is second to none IMHO and gives a great shave! I have a couple of years worth in stock

Hi fellas.

Williams will be my one and only shaving soap on workdays. Best price. Best performance. Best scent. Period.

Price: I am located in continental Europe and can get it for about 3.- USD per 100g, which says it all.

Performance: The last couple of months I've tried over one hundred soap samples, including every traditional and artisan soap manufacturer of distinction. The slickness that Williams provides is on par with the best, given that you lather it up the right way, i.e. you soak it with really hot water for a few minutes.

Scent: On workdays, I do not have the time to indulge in luxury and complex scents, this is for the weekends as it's too time-consuming. It's all about efficiency and pragmatism on workdays, that's why I usually use a synthetic brush and a soap that provides the best slickness, is inexpensive and has a non-complex, soapy scent. The citrusy washhouse scent of Williams is in this regard just perfect.

BTW, my weekends soaps are SV Stella Alpina, LPL Oud-Santal, Boellis Panama 1924 & Daytona, Wickham's Parma Violet and RazoRock's The Dead Sea. Daytona may be replaced by Fine's Platinum as I prefer soaps to croaps and creams.

I don't know the vintage one, but the latest version -- which also contains tallow -- needs a good deal of water, it's actually by far the thirstiest soap I've ever tried.

Not true. Check the label. "Tallow" is nowhere to be found.

Has anyone tried using the GD Pre-shave and Williams together? I’m curious if it might elevate the soap a notch or two.
