I'm not a razor collector myself but I have acquired a few during my search for the best razor for my skin and beard. My first razor was an EJ DE89 which I still have and use occasionally. I had no issue with the EJ but became curious how other razors would compare, especially those that cost more. What I learned is that the EJ for me shaves just as well as any other I've used and better than most. However, I wanted to own a stainless steel razor that I wouldn't have to worry about damaging. I'm very careful with my razors but did drop my EJ in the sink one time and chipped the end of the top cap. Prior to buying a stainless razor head I bought a few aluminum ones. I had a Standard Razor that I used for 2 weeks and sold due to how rough it was on my neck even after trying various blades and practicing my technique. Then I bought an iKon 101 that I thought was the perfect razor except I don't like the open comb side which defeats the purpose of a DE razor. It's really a shame iKon doesn't offer a model with the safety bar of the 101 on both sides. Still, I figured I would give iKon another chance and bought the 102 Slant but it was also harsh on my neck like the Standard Razor. I sold all of those except the 101 which hasn't sold but I posted twice and I'm keeping my EJ DE89. I also had bought a Muhle R41 last year which is very efficient but also very aggressive but with the proper blade and a light touch it's a nice razor for multiple days growth. Finally I bought what turned out to be the perfect razor for me, the Feather AS-D2. Due to the price of stainless steel razors I held out a long time before buying this one, stuck deciding between the ATT and AS-D2. I went with the AS-D2 due to how forgiving it is while also being efficient with the right blades. So there you have it. My favorite razor is the AS-D2 but I find the EJ DE89 provides just as good of a shave so it's a keeper too. My preference for the AS-D2 though is due to the how forgiving it is and the perfect balance of the razor with handle, and the overall feel in my hand and on my face.
