I've become a big fan of Wholly Kaw soaps over the last few months. Their performance puts them among MY top 5 artisan soap makers and their scents are right up their too. The donkey milk LE soaps are amazing. In any case, I hadn't tried any of the WK vegan soaps until this morning when I lathered up a recently acquired tub of Twice as Spice. It lathers incredibly well and I honestly cannot really tell the difference between it and WK's tallow offerings - WK soaps, like many artisan soaps, are thirsty and adequate hydration is important to a good lather and shave. WK calls the scent "Another take on a classic fragrance from the last century. A more sophisticated version reminiscent of Old Spice." I don't have a lot of experience with Old Spice, old or new, however, I find this scent to be really nice and not particularly Old Spicey, maybe thats why they say "reminiscent". I was getting pleasant sandalwood in there but apparently there isn't any in it. It has "Fresh and clean, woody notes with top notes of orange, lemon, spices, clary sage heart notes of cinnamon, carnation, jasmine, and base notes of tonka bean, vanilla, cedar wood, ambergris, frankincense and nag champa." WK is very good at blending its scents and I have trouble picking out any single one of those fragrances in the final mix but then again, I'm more of a like : don't like kind of person when it comes to scent and I like this one. If you're looking for a nice vegan soap (or tallow) you might want to give Wholly Kaw a try.

Marko I totally agree with you, Wholly Kaw has launched itself into my top tier of Shave soaps. My first experience with Wholly Kaw was their LE Fougere Bouquet with Donkey Milk. I had read a bunch of favorable reviews of the Soaps performance as well as of the scent and thought I would give it a try. The performance is fantastic, thick and slick and can take a bunch of water. I've also really enjoyed all of the scents I've tried, so far I have Fougere Bouquet, Chypre Rose Concerto, and Monaco Royal, all with Donkey Milk. The post Shave feel is great, and I really enjoy the Splashes as well, they smell amazing and leave my skin feeling great. I'm hoping they will release a Donkey Milk version of Lav Sublime Concerto, otherwise the next Wholly Kaw Soap/Splash I try will be Man From Mayfair. I've not tried any of the Vegan versions of Wholly Kaw as I prefer a Tallow base, but it performs anything like the Tallow versions I'm sure it will be a winner.

TheHunter you might want to give one of their vegans a try as I think there are a few pretty nice scents that are only available in vegan base. I honestly decided to try the vegan base because one of my brothers claims to have a problem with tallow base soaps - he says he can smell it but it only seems to cause a problem when he knows its there. What are you going to do? He's family. I figure I'll buy him a tub of WK vegan and ask him to give back the Man From Mayfair I gave him.

While I generally prefer the tallow based soaps I haven't had any problems with the vegan bases I've tried which would be this one (WK) and a few Barrister and Mann vegan soaps from a couple of years back when they still made them.

Thanks Marko for the feedback on the vegan versions of the soap. Honestly, ever since we introduced the tallow versions, tallow outsells vegan. We are constantly tweaking and modifying the vegan formulation in order to address the well known shortcomings in vegan soaps in general re: post shave qualities. In our most recent scents for the vegan versions, we have incorporated shea butter unsaponifiables and soybean glycerides that are superior to lanolin in film forming capabilities and moisturizing qualities. We will be introducing another version of the vegan formulation for an upcoming scent that will put it on par with the tallow in all respects.

Thank you for trying the vegan version and providing the feedback. Glad you enjoyed Twice As Spice!!

My pleasure and thank you for your commitment to your products. I guess sometimes we have to step outside of our comfort zone and trying the vegan Twice as Spice was definitely a positive experience. I'll be looking forward to vegan innovations Big Grin
