Im a little bit surprised for not seeing this shaving soap more often on the SOTD.

If you love the Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet scent , then , you have reasons to be happy.

A good friend of mine told me that the new Vegan formula used by Wholly Kaw is as good as the tallow based ones.Let me tell you that I'm not more partial to Tallow over veggie based soaps or the other way around : I simply want a soap that it contains quality ingredients and is well formulated. And this is one of them.

This soap comes on a plastic jar with a very bright full yellow sticker which truly gives you an idea of what you're going to find inside : 4 oz of a superb scented shaving soap.

It's ingredients are basic and the Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil stands out , specially for a dry skin like mine.Again , this is a vegan soap , and no tallow and lanolin have been used but there is a version with those ingredients (black label instead of yellow)

This soap makes a extra thick and slick lather.I find that sometimes thick lather is not slick. This is not the case : the Jojoba Oil seems to create that extra slickness.

Here I use a WSP Stubby Silvertip Premium brush.Load it for 15 seconds :

And here is after a minute , and no water added :

My skin doesn't lies : if a product doesn't contains the right ingredients and don't use pre shave oil , goes really dry after my shave.Again , it wasn't the case with this soap.Perfect nourished after it and no extra dryness or red spots anywhere.

And something that I truly enjoy about this soap is the scent.Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet revisited.I say that because is based on Sir Winston Churchill favorite scent but even more manly. The notes are fresh but deeper , I don't know how to express it better.Smells like BB but with more of a complex open , middle and finishing notes.I find it to be a winner on my list , like the Asylum Neroli and Black Pepper , Colonia Mediterranea by CRSW , Tallow and Steel Classic and WSP Mahogany. Each of those soaps smells different but has something in common : was love at first sniff for me.This have been too.

Very impressed with this vegan soap.Wholly Kaw have shown that veggie or tallow based , if a soap is well formulated , then is going to be a success.Well done.

I have been a fan for about a year now. I find it to be exceptionally slick and very easy to lather. I would not know it was a Vegan soap, except the label says so.

Nice review, thanks! I've been meaning to try Wholly Kaw for a while now, but it's just one of those that I haven't got around to yet. I will eventually though.

Yes, thanks for sharing your observations, Teiste! I’m in the same boat as Jeff — I’ve been wanting to try Wholly Kaw soap for months, now, but just haven’t made it there yet. Some people have been raving about the newer tallow formula, but Wholly Kaw built its brand on the vegan formula, so it would be nice to try both.

I got the Fougère Bouquet aftershave splash for Christmas, and it’s a great splash with an invigorating skin feel and a very pleasing scent.

I had a Fern Concerto sample that I used for the last few days.
The lather wasn't slick enough compared to other soaps in my den.
Post shave was drier compared to others as well.
Lathering was trivial, the soap can take good amount of water. (so I expected it to be slicker)
Shaves were comfortable otherwise.

Scent was extraordinary - perfect scent strength and a very nicely done scent.

So I went to Wholly Kaw's website - with shipping and tax, one tub would cost me 24$. I can have better soaps for half that amount so didn't go through the purchase.

But I suspect this will be a soap I will end up buying just for the scent only. as always YMMV

Yes , gentlemen : I havent tried the Tallow version , yet , but hard to beat this vegan formula.

Sourav , is interesting what you mentio : maybe you tried one of the old vegan formulas ? I can tell you that mine is as slick as it could get.Basically like a 3T shaving cream.

I used the tallow version - at least that's what it says on the small container. Mine is old though - it was from last year's NYC meetup. May be if I used it more or from a large container I would have gotten better results. Also I am not as experienced as you guys so take everything I mention with a large grain of salt. Smile

Yes , my friend Sourav : that could explain why.The new version have been improved and seems that works much better than the old , for what Inhaven been told by a good friend of mine who likes this brand a lot.
Well done for Wholly Kaw and all the soap artisans who are trying to deliver superb products.

My only Wholly Kaw soap is Chypre Rose Concerto and its really quite wonderful (there I go with the "quite"). I picked it up last fall I think and I wasn't impressed with the scent on my first use and stuck it away in the cupboard. A couple of weeks back I was looking for rose scented soaps and decided to give this one another go and I'm glad I did. I don't know what I was thinking the first time I used it but the second time was beautiful. Thats happened before with some soaps that I initially didn't like that subsequently went on to become favourites. Leviathan for example.

Well. I can't NOT buy it anymore.
Again, the scent is nothing short of extraordinary for me.
