Here is how I feel for Stirling. They know they are a tier 2 base. They fill a very important segment in wet shaving. I think bang for the buck spending $13.10 for 5.8 ounces of soap is huge for the frugal guys that want a good shave. I think if they kicked it up they would move out of that lot of good soap for cheap segment. Problem with better bases are more expensive raw materials. I just don't see them doing that unless they decide they want to do a luxury line.

Couldn't agree more. I think HB is one of the best at marketing but their base is very poor. PAA gets knocked around for bad behavior years ago but they can also put a commercial together. I read that their new base is off the charts.

I have yet to try PAA at the moment, I have also heard CK6 is something I need to look into and they are apparently really nailing down the Dupe scents. I haven’t heard of anything original from these guys as of yet. But at some point I’ll have to add them to the list. As for THB, I couldn’t agree more. If my sets weren’t so damn pretty they would be up for sale in a heartbeat

I would not put Sirling in a tier two position ever.  Great value?  Undoubtedly.  But I find Stirling performs far better than most "premium" soaps in my hard water.  I for one hope they don't reformulate just for the sake of having a new base and the buzz that goes with it.  Shoot, a lot of reformulations have killed the usefulness of a soap (Trumpers)

Living on the edge
while I love the smell of B&M reserve cool, it makes a rather tepid lather.
love to see if reserve cool could be better formatted to address this

The last two are highly regarded by many but I find both of them to leave my skin very dry, I love their scents though
Well..  Cool

The first thing I need to say to Oasisdave is that really sucks and I'm sorry to hear that. Mercifully it's a super rare event that our formula is described as drying out our customers skin; usually it's quite to the contrary.

The second thing I need to say to everyone is that work has begun on offering an additional animal fat / various oil / milk derived shaving soap combined with the most effective ingredients that categorically nail that holy trinity of next level cushion, slickness and post-shave.

Watch this space.

Kerry.

I hear T&H has reformulated, and although it is still sodium palmate 1st, apparently it does lather and perform well. I have not tried it, so I can not personally confirm.

I agree with Chiseled Face. I’m a big fan of their scents, and use their after shaves on a regular basis, but find their soaps lacking a bit. While I do have Chiseled Face soaps in my den, I do have better.

I could not agree more. The strange thing is the owner seems like an extremely smart fella, so I wonder why he hasn't tweaked it?

I think Rod is a laid back guy that doesn't want to keep fighting the evolving soap base. I read the other day that a "bear" fat base is hitting the market........

I will say with the declining wet shaving fever he missed a golden opportunity to cash back in with a Rhino run. Not sure if there are contractual issues but I think that soap being released again would sell out in minutes. He could make 500 tubs and theh would be gone.
