Which soap or cream produces your favorite lather?

Michael, I'm curious about your experience with L&L. I used my second tub of L&L today for the first time (Cuir), and found it even more amazing than my first (Harmony). In fact, this afternoon I ordered two more tubs (Rain and Tris...). It's early days, but for the performance, it's now in the running for my #1. For scent, however, Nuavia, MdC and LPL will be hard to unseat.

Scott, yesterday was my first time using an L&L, the Cuir et Épices. Very leather forward, reminds me of BandM Leviathan.I also have the Trismegistus, very much like Terre d'Hermes.

The performance was very good: The brush loaded quickly, and I found that the soap would take just about as much water as I wanted to add. It will take me a few more shaves to get it dialed in, but the first go round was excellent.

One thing I noticed was that after the shave, when I went to rinse out the soap, there was a very sticky, almost stringy, layer of lather around the inside edges of the container-it felt almost like a shaving paste.

I have to say that this is a very slippery soap for a tallow. One of the reasons I like the Italian non-tallows so much is the slippery feel. Some of the heavier tallows just give too much 'resistance', especially on the first pass. First impressions is that this is right up there with my favorites (BandM glissant, CRSW, Eufros, TTFFC) and maybe a bit better on 'slip'.

I don't really have a favorite. RazoRock Tobacco is nice. So are TOBS (sandlewood), Captain's Choice (Bay Rum, Lime, North), Arko shave stick, DR Harris and Kiss My Face.

Last year, I received a free tub of Vikings Blade cream in exchange for an Amazon product review. Mediocre and overpriced. VDH soap is okay, but nothing to write home about.

Of the canned lathers, I prefer Barbisol. The others are, IMO, too dry and overpriced. Gels (Edge, Fusion) I've never liked.

Scott, just had another shave with the Trismegistus. There's something different about these L&L Grooming bison-tallow-based soaps. Different as in excellent. It's very early in my experience with them, but I think it's going to vault to the top (or at least a tied at the top) of my tallow soaps.

I've done some looking around on the web, and it seems that the stringy, sticky 'protolather' is a characteristic of the soap. The ingredients have something to do with it, I suspect it's the glycerine, butter, and clay.

I prefer the lightness of the Italian lathers usually, but I have to say I am very impressed with these L&Ls.

Kent (MWF) soap works great for me so far

I have to say L&L, followed by CRSW and Wholly Kaw's Monaco Royale. I received a mostly used tin of Bufflehead and it would be right up there.Unfortunately it's virtually unobtainable and, given that, I just can't see putting it first.

I used Tallow & Steel soap for the first time, yesterday. Amazing. The best lather of any of my top tier soaps (B&M, Stirling, Soap Commander, Viking, Razorock Dead Sea, Sudsy Soapery). Favorite scents are from B&M. Have yet to try Wholly Kaw donkey milk soap, but it's on the list.

The word "sticky" caught my eye ...

It perfectly describes one of my new favorite soaps ... Phoenix and Beau Spitfire.  I've also seen P&B referred to as "glue-like" in consistency.   The Spitfire scent is unique (and probably not for everyone), but the quality of the lather is quickly moving to the top of the list.
