This is one of my first razors rescued from the wild. She had hone wear, a frown, and busted scales. She was over my head when I bought her, but she was the right price, and a barber's wedge, so I worked a couple of other blades and waited for this one. This was the first blade I had to really work on to get out numerous chips and a warp AND a frown. This was also the first successful set of scales I ever made, from a single piece of teak wood. As much trouble as this razor actually was to get here, it is probably the best shaver in my collection. I love using this blade, and I always forget just how good it shaves...It's a very pleasant surprise every time I take it out...

[edited to add] I just realized, when I looked at these 2 pictures next to each other, how much of that heel I actually had to remove to get the frown out. You can see the change in edge shape and blade geometry I had to make to get it shaving. I'm not really one to pat myself on the back, but I feel pretty good about that.[/edit]


It's definitely more of a true wedge than any of my near wedge blades...
