Shave 19 ・ 92 g left ・ $0.84 / shave

Day 2 with the Vector SS razor (Lite plate) and a Kai Captain Titan Mild (Pink) blade. I’ve got the angle down pat. Riding the cap is the way to go for a smooth, comfortable shave. A lot of the credit needs to go to Mike’s Bay Rum. It makes such a sweet, slick lather. At the same time, it doesn’t goop up my skin with too much fat. If anything, it may be a bit drying. I like that. Leaves plenty of room for aftershave, or in my case, bay rum. My elixir of choice is Captain’s Choice Cat o’ Nine Tails. It’s potent, especially after a rough scraping. But today’s shave was so smooth I felt the sizzle for only a couple minutes.

I find this interesting. I use alcohol based aftershaves exclusively. If there is no sting at all I pat myself on the back for my good technique. Usually this is the result if I limit myself to two passes + a light touch up pass. If I do four full passes usually my aftershave will sting, but only for a few seconds and I consider that a rough shave. If the stinging went on for minutes I would conclude that something was seriously wrong.

Is my experience that different from the rest of you guys?

Doing two guys work is taxing! I was in Phoenix last week and Denver this and never unpacked my bag. Just swapped some dirties for some cleans. My clients are like family so it’s not a terrible existence. In fact it’s a great way to check a shave soap under a lot of conditions and water sources. I’ll tell you my days of junk prep and a great shave anyway are gone! My old grey whiskers need some soaking before the shearing. My soap was WSP Gaelic Tweed but I’m so done with this scent! Sort of with it was Garlic Tweed for a change. Headed home for a few days and then it’s off to PA and on to TX and Canada is screaming for some attention!  I’ll not be taking the WSP with me though. Maybe DomS Black Velvet needs the work.
