I don't think they ever published the formula, so who knows what's in there? but it's one of those soaps where, while you're just loading the brush or face lathering, you already know for a fact it's going to be a slick shave. The lather was also very rich and protective, particularly on the second pass. In all those respects, it reminds me of the early Crabtree & Evelyn Mysore Sandalwood.

This month was supposed to be Oaken Lab October, but in late September some fantastic new soaps arrived in the mail and I got sidetracked. Shame, because Oaken Lab’s V3 soaps are fine performers, and the fragrances are of the highest grade. Unfortunately, Oaken Lab doesn’t seem to be making shaving soaps any more. I visited the web site and found only body soaps, incense stands, and such. I hope this indicates only a short break from the soap cooking.
Today’s Earth of Mankind is a spicy tobacco with oud and hints of powdered shrimp. Curious but very satisfying.
keto: yesterday's Bay Rum was Barrister & Mann's Excelsior base. I'll have to revisit it soon with a drier brush.
