I don't usually post product reviews, but in the case of Ethos Vanilla Safi, had to make an exception. Just received these products in the mail yesterday.

What can I say? These are simply the best soap and the best post shave products I have ever used. Let's start with the soap. I dabbed a small amount into the bottom of my Captain's Choice bowl, and spread it around. It did not take much water, and I had an incredibly dense, vanilla scented, lubricious lather. Great cushion and glide. Yesterday I did three passes, but this morning I limited myself to two, and I have a very good BBS still. Key point: no irritation. In addition to vanilla, there are notes of spice. Pumpkin pie? Very seasonal.

The serum is in a league of its own. This stuff takes just a drop, and it spreads over your entire face. The smell is strong and lingering, but not overpowering -- it lasted overnight. The remarkable thing is that there are obviously oils in it, yet there is no greasy feeling on your skin. It absorbs quickly and readily, and your skin feels incredibly hydrated and supple. The scent too lasted overnight.

Only problem is that now I need to purchase the Lemoncello and accompanying serum, so I don't only smell like vanilla all the time. The part of me that shaves is happy, but the part that pinches pennies is less pleased.  Wink

Honestly, as far as penny pinching goes, the products are pricey, but you get what you pay for and then some. It takes so little. The serum will last quite some time, and it's difficult to imagine using up the soap.

Great stuff. Keep it coming Frank!

This soap is part of Ethos’ Lisse Collection – perhaps the only one in the line so far. If Frank adds more, you can bet they’ll join my collection. Today’s shave was pure perfection.

So what does lisse mean? I had to look it up. Turns out it's French for “glassy smooth.” Apt description. That’s exactly how my face feels right now. It didn’t hurt that I added a few drops of hyaluronic acid to the lather, along with a touch of Koolada, for a bit of extra plump and chill. This shave has set a new standard – effortless, refreshing, and leaving me with skin that feels impeccably smooth. It’s the kind of result that keeps me coming back to Ethos, primed for whatever Frank dreams up next.

Agree 100% on your assessment of Lisse - I had a jar of this and lost it in a move.  My memories are I was always taken aback at the quality of the lather, slick and especially super smooth post shave feel.

Let me join you, Dave, in celebrating Tonka Tuesday! In fact, I might just dedicate the entire month to it and call it Tonkatober. This soap is part of Frank’s Rainforest Collection, and that's just the thing for this time of the year. As the humidity here rises and the squalls become more frequent, the smells of drenched woodlands and splashy undergrowth will become more and more prominent. Next month, the heavy rains will begin in earnest. I’m looking forward to the earthy scent of tonka to carry me through the damp days ahead.

What a shave today. Darkfall is FALL, reminding me of roasting pinion nuts.

The last two days were one of my favorite soaps of all time.  Black Velvet is a most awesome and unadulterated vetiver.
