HS - very curious about that?! That recipe would be awesome for someone like Frank or Will to have.

Agreed Tommy.

I have all the original aromatic notes that Shulton used. What is not known is how many of them were synthetic and how many were natural. In discussions with Gareth at The Shave Supply I mentioned that every note listed could be done using all natural aromatics. Will it be close to the original I’m not sure but in the back of my mind I’ve been thinking about giving it a try at some point as I don’t offer a Barbershop scent and it has some personal meaning to me as a kid that’s pretty much all my Dad used and for years I used to do “ Old Spice Sundays “ as my SOTD in memory of my dad. I had a great collection of the original juice, talc powder and the mugs etc but all melted in the fire this past March.

It’s easy to find the dupe fragrance oil and make a copy of Old Spice but I wouldn’t go that route. I’d want to start it from scratch.

The newer version is missing the warmth and signature powdery note the original had.
Exactly right Italian Stallion . The current versions are missing that roundness... I am guessing it is that carnation note? . There's something magical with that Shulton juice.... You can do it Frank. I used to have the same routine. Sunday's was spice Sunday per my pops and grandpa who used shulton. Pappy used to straight razor shave from the shulton mug. Do it Frank! You need to have a bbshop puck . [As long as you doNT forget the Magnolia as well lol.]

vtmax, thanks for mentioning Orkney Tapestry. Until yesterday, I’d never heard of the book, but it looks very interesting, just the thing for a blustery Sunday afternoon. And good luck with finishing your puck of the Art of Shaving’s Sandalwood. By all accounts, it’s one of the greatest soaps ever made for shaving. Valobra knew how to make good stuff. Once I get through Mike's Bay Rum, I just may have to finish up Czech & Speake’s Oxford & Cambridge.

Merkur Man's classic video on making a glossy lather has done wonders for my shaves. I should review it once a week. Following his simple technique for making cream right on the puck, my lathers are turning out thicker than hung yoghurt and shinier than melting gelato. Most irritation has disappeared, and I’m feeling bold enough to start messing around with heavy razors again.

Hope things at the Doc turned out well!

Thanks Lip!  It wasn't the news I was hoping to hear.  But on a positive note, I'm relatively young at 50 years and all the "bad" things on the test are easily manageable with diet, exercise and a daily pill or two.
