I have thought about that.  However, it is a very, very thin leather-about 1mm thick and I have yet to see anything I could cannibalize.  I even thought about contracting one of the well known shave vendor sites that makes their own strops to do it for me but I never got around to it.  Maybe this year!  (It's not like I have a lot to do).

It was just one example, there were others. I know some are crazy price but there are cheaper ones as well. Hope it works out for you
