Growth: 2 day beard
Prep: Warm shower: Stirling Sheep bar soap
Pre: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
Brush: Semogue 1470
Lather: PAA Supreme Sandalwood Science (CK-6 formula)
Load/Lather Bowl: soap tub

Razor Head: Yaqi Romulus, no shims
Handles: Razorine 21972, Maggard Razors MR7, PAA Flare Tip, Feather AS-D2
Blade: Schick P-30 (D6.5)

Post: Alum, Stirling witch hazel, PAA Mysterium Serum

I decided to work through more handles with the Romulus.

The Razorine handle (64.8g, 90mm) was a joy to use. I looks nice and the connection point does not extend past the base of the Romulus head. I used a black Yates washer to protect the bottom plate. Though not the grippiest handle out there, I balance the razor on my pinky finger for shaving my face and grip the middle of the handle when shaving S-N on my neck. I like this handle. It would inspire me to shave more. At 90mm, it is only 1mm shorter than the Romulus handle (50.9g, 91mm) for which I liked the length/head angle.

The Maggard Razors MR7 (64g, 98mm) had plenty of grip, but the longer length (98mm) caused a harsh head angle at points.

The PAA Flare Tip handle (79g, 88.9mm) is the same length as the Feather AS-D2 handle (88.9mm) which I like. It worked well but I am not fond of the knurling. The connection point does not extend past the base of the Romulus head. I can use a black Yates nylon washer with that handle to protect the base plate from scratches.

I finished with the Feather AS-D2 (60.0g, 88.9mm) which had been the front runner so far. I like the knurling on this handle and have a Maggard Razors stand that fits it well. I use a Maggard Razor white nylon washer just to cover the connection point of the handle since it sticks out a little (and to give protection against scratches). This handle gives me the best control, though I think I prefer the overall feel of the Razorine handle. I think I will go with the Razorine handle for now and if it turns out to be too slick, I will pull out the AS-D2 handle.

Other handles that I could use and that I don't think stick out past the Romulus head include the Stando King handle (too heavy) and the Gillette post-war Tech ball end handle (too short/small, brass).

First of all, beautiful photo and beautiful gear. Second, how do you get an injector blade to work in a GEM?

Thanks in advance for your response.

The injector blade clamps in tight enough under pressure of the top cap such that it does not move.  This also works in the MMOC.  Thanks for your kind words.

Dave
