Today, I tried out PAL Blue carbon steel blades for the first time. I am not sure what went wrong but I couldn't find the right GEM razor to tame the first shave on the fresh blade and not get bogged down in two day's stubble.

I thought I would use a milder razor assuming the first shave on a fresh PAL blade would be rough. I guess I needed to go for a more efficient razor instead. Maybe my face prep was off today. Maybe PAL Blue carbon steel blades are not as sharp as Personna GEM PTFE-coated Stainless Steel blades. After trying four GEM razors with the blade, I switched to the Schick 500 injector razor and it took care of business without getting bogged down in the stubble. My next GEM-style razor to pull would have been my ER Streamline since it was easily accessible but I had wasted so much time on this shave, I didn't bother with any other GEM-style razors.

Still trying to figure out how to tame a new PAL blue carbon steel blade.
I tried palm stropping the blade a few times today. Not sure if I did it enough times to make a difference or not.
My last shave with this blade was with milder razors and they were getting stuck in my two-day stubble, so today, I switched to more efficient razors. They didn't get stuck in the stubble but the blade was just as harsh. Maybe I need to cork this blade.
