I just got a shipment of Arko, and when I opened the package I got a good strong whiff of the zesty lemony goodness and it triggered memories of the excitement I had when I first started wetshaving. It brought a silly grin to my face.
So, let's hear it! What scent makes you instantly recall your early days of wetshaving?

Italian Barber Amici. It was my first "set", and I ordered it with my first "real" brush, which is the Zenith-made blonde boar in olive wood. This replaced my Van der Hagen Deluxe soap and boar brush set that was my first ever experience with brush and puck.

I still have the Amici soap, splash, and the brush, and all still go through rotation, though the soap is not used as much as the brush and splash are.

Anyhow...that blast of grapefruit from Amici was my first foray into "artisan soaps", and that wonderful scent profile will always represent my introduction to wet shaving. I remember craving the scent of the splash while I sat at work, impatiently waiting to get home and have a shave. Great stuff!

For me it's Tabac that takes me back to just getting started in wet shaving. My brother in law introduced me to traditional wet shaving, he set me up with a Merkur Razor, Tabac in the ceramic jar, and an Omega brush. To this day Tabac is a scent that I love, it makes me think of an old school barber shop. I think it's performance is outstanding as well!

Cella, in the little red tub. I was so anxious to begin wetshaving, I drove out to Long Island to pick it up in person from Lee Cantor of Lee's Razors. Lee and I joked about how it must have looked like an awkward drug deal in the Home Depot parking lot, but it was just the beginning of my trip down the wet shaving rabbit hole...Rolleyes

Great thread, Gareth @"TheHandleBar"!

Proraso Green soap and TOBS Sandlewood Shaving Cream were my first two purchases and those scents really take me back!

Arko shaving soap was my third purchase. I was amazed with the performance and the scent didn't bother me. I immediately bought a box of 12 for $13.(I still have ~8 sticks, having PIF'd several sticks.)

Mike's Natural Soaps Vetiver was my 1st artisan shaving soap and the scent reminds me of my Grandpap who's been gone for 35 years. The performance of Mike's also amazed me and I still have about 14 of his soaps that I enjoy.

Scents have a really strong affect on memory.
