In my opinion, the difference is like that between the Super Badger and the Manchurian Badger. although the synthetic is not really comparable to the Badger.

The Platinum IMHO has a bit more backbone, feels denser and softer at the same time. The Platinum holds the lather more in the knot, meaning you make less of a mess when make the painting moves in your face, whereas you have to be more careful with the Sovereign.

However, the performance at the end is very similar. I like them both because they are a good change.

Thanks Spectre! Good info. As my pet peeve are lather how, I will pass on the platinum. I like a knot that is free with the lather. .
