I live in Copenhagen, Denmark.

We have weather very similar to London, UK - but slightly less rainy, slightly cooler.

Right now, 17.th of February 2016, we have 0°C/30°F, sunny clear weather, but a bit chilly in the mornings.

So I need an after shave balm, but love the sensation I get from an After Shave Splash, so use both - Splash first, then balm, from October until April.

Would love to hear you favorite splashes and balm !

Mine are changing weekly, but these are among my preferred brands.

FYI I'm a fragrance collector, and have collected fragrances since I was 14-15 years old.
I wear a new fragrance daily 365 days a year. This still means I can't even rotate through my fragrance collectin in a years time.
So an after shave for me, should not last, scent wise, more than 1-2 hours tops.

After Shave Splash

Myrsol - own all 10 glass bottles. Always a scent to suit the weather, your temper and the occasion.
Pitralon - own 3 from them. This house is brand new to me. Great stuff.
Floid - own 3 of their 400 ml bottles. They are a classic brand.
Proraso - only own their 400 ml green splash. But would not want to be without it.
Speick - own their two splashes. Great great soothing splashes.

Honorable mention: DR Harris - own 6 of their splashes. Great scents. Their Sandalwood is top class. Bay rum too. Arlington too.....yadadadadada yada Tongue

After Shave Balms

Mühle Aloe Vera - The best balm I have ever tried. 10/10
Musgo Real - Love the Classic Vetiver & Musc in it. Excellent.
Proraso - Own all 3 balms. A classic. For a good reason.
Baxter of California - A balm with menthol. More like a gel. Can be used year round. Not greasy at all.
Clinique Post Shave Healer - Have used this since the 90's. Perfect product.

Honorable mention: 444 - Fantastic little tube from Portugal. It. Just. Works.

That's a tough question Claus! I haven't tried enough to have a solid top 5, but I'll give my top 3, not in any order.

Splash:

Derby City Chop Shop Small Batch Shave Tonic
Myrsol (F-Extra and Blue)
Barrister & Mann (Fougere and Cologne Russe)

Balm:

Acqua di Parma Collezione Barbiere (and scented versions)
Antica Barbieria Colla Apricot Hull
Savonniere du Moulin Aftershave

My top choices so far, just coming into my second year of DE shaving:

-Soap Commander: Lotion (in the Respect scent) can't use their A/S balm because of the menthol. Stronger scent though, so it does stay with you for a while.
-Shave Works: "The Cool Fix" is awesome for problems with irritation and ingrown hair for me. Nice cooling sensation without any side effects. Thankfully I don't have to use it much anymore that I'm dialing in my technique and equipment. But if needed, it works great.Technically a women's product , but who cares.
-Fine: Platinum,  L'Orange Noir, and American Blend. SWMBO loves these, so of course they're in high rotation.
-Thayers: Alcohol-Free Unscented Witch Hazel. My go-to product, works great for my skin and can be layered with another scent easily.

I have some Beaver Woodwright coming in that I'm very anxious to try out. I'm much more inclined to use a splash over a balm.

My top pick for aftershave splashes with short lived scents are Floid Blue and Proraso Green. Two classics that I will always have in my den.

This winter I've been using Antica Barbieria Colla Almond Oil aftershave milk. This stuff is by far the best performing balm that I've used. It works wonders for my skin and there is almost no lingering scent.

I don't own lots of them, so I will go with the following among the ones I own.

Floid Blue
Pitralon (all of them)
CRSW Balms

I also think the EUFROS balms are really good and they feel good on my face.

The ABC Almond Milk aftershave is awesome. It really seems to treat and moisturize the skin. My favorite though is the Apricot Hull, which is much heavier, but perfect for someone like me who has dry/sensitive skin issues. To the company's credit, my complexion always looks great after using any ABC aftershave.

Claus, the only suggestion I can give you is to mix a little bit of unrefined shea butter with your splashes throughout the months of October until April. This way, you won't need any other balm. Big Grin

I am becoming more of a splash guy of late but still need a balm a lot of the time because of the weather here in the UK.

Current favourites:
Balm:
Nivea Sensitive - will always be a staple in my den.
Soap Commander - love this and I use the Unscented as an everyday moisturiser.
Dapper Dragon Scale Polish - Not spoken about much but needs to be because it is very good, big menthol hit too.
Geo F Trumper Skin Food - not the most effective but love the Lime scent.
Proraso - I struggle to find this hard to pair with a soap but it is a great performer.

Splash:
Myrsol - I have two and are very good performers.
Fine - love the scents, huge fan of L'Orange Noir.
Kramperts - Frostbite is a great menthol got on a hot day and really does leave the skin feeling great.

I find myself limited In the UK sometimes, don't get me wrong we have a huge choice but it's a shame we don't have access to some of the US artisan splashes.

Not really a balm guy myself, but, and while it's not a balm in the normal meaning, Lucky Tiger Vanishing Cream, nice amount of menthol in it and it really helps if I have any irritation as well Smile

Splashes;

1. Luck Tiger Aftershave and Face Tonic(always, always will have some of this in my den! Though if you have been reading some of my posts, you'll know this by now Tongue Also the only menthol free splash on this list Tongue)
2. Booster Iced Lime(nice and tingly, and it's Canadian, made in Toronto!)
3. Krampert's Finest Frostbite(I'm sure I don't need to explain Smile )
4. Maggard's Orange Menthol(see Krampert's comment lol)
5. Fine Snake Bite(when I need to wake up after a shave! lol)

Runner Up; Lucky Tiger Aspen
