CaD314, thanks for posting your explanation.

I found the OT discussion valuable and have a comment on that but don't want to continue to take this thread off topic. Perhaps a stand-alone thread (in which some the OT posts from here could be moved into) would be better, as it could then be found and pointed to any time in the future when this comes up (as it inevitably will).  ADMIN??

CaD314- a question for you, on topic, sort of: with all this discussion of forum members' favorite PAA soaps, I checked out your site (again) and was wondering WHY DON'T YOU OFFER SAMPLE-SIZES of PAA soaps?

I've long wanted to try your Gondolier soap in particular, but having read this thread there's probably at least 4 or 5 others I'd now like to try. And I assume like most vendors, you'd be happy to take my money, and I trust want the (hopefully) good word of mouth I am likely to give you if your products are as good as you believe they are. But like many wet shavers, I've actually already got more soap than I need (and blades, and razors - and I'm only 4 months in to DE shaving!). And the cost factor is a huge issue - no way can I justify spending $50+ to try 3 soaps, let alone $75 for 5. (I'm in Canada so it's considerably more as on orders over $15 (CAD$20), we pay 13% tax on total inc shipping + a $10 customs handling/postage fee - even more reason to avoid). However, I would spend $15 for 5x samples + $4 CONUS shipping (or up to USD$10 to Canada).

But like I said, it's not a Canada thing... it's a "there's so much selection out there, and I only have a finite amount of $ to spend" thing, and a "if I like a sample, it's easier to justify spending money on a full-sized something I don't need" thing.

Samples may be a time-consuming messy headache (I assuming), but you'd be getting income you're not getting from me and others like me, and, once my current soap runs out or I find some extra money--whichever comes soonest--there's a far greater likelihood I'll be spending it with you, and not a competitor.

I respect your statement, you're human and I understand you worked hard for this. I don't like being unfair to people like that. I'm only one guy but I will try your products again.

I have to admit that good vibrations soap sounds really interesting, and hey I'm a positive guy, I like good vibrations so I may try that some time and that Sangre de Drago? Cause I saw oud and I'm a sucker for that.

I hope you have some Oud scented aftershave balms too. I'm currently using Ginger's Garden balm, I find that balm has a number of good stuff in her ingredient lists plus vitamin E. If you have some suggestions in your line up, let me know.

Lastly, triple milled man, you must have some in your line up in the future.

I used Good Vibrations for my head shave last night. Fantastic scent. Absolutely love it, and it really performs at the top of my experience level. Great stuff.

Also...check out the Oud Spice. I believe it comes in both soap and splash. Ive never smelled it, because I have no idea what oud smells like, but its in the PAA lineup...

My one and only soap from CaD314 is the old HTGAM Cavendish. Maybe since he's responded to here, I can find out from him why this soap develops a white, thickish film on its surface? I always rinse the puck and allow the surface to dry before replacing the lid. No other soap in my den has this issue. Sorry for the detour, but I have been wanting to know for a while and there might be others with a similar issue.

Innocent until proven guilty and now you have explained quite a bit. I hope it puts this all to bed.

CaD314 , it was the ingredients list issue that was the one that always stuck with me. It was because of this issue that the other issues were believable. I have no idea of the validity of the other issues, so I will probably remain skeptical of both sides. Hope that is not unreasonable. But to this day, there are people that will not try US artisan soaps for the fear that the ingredients lists cannot be trusted. I have no idea if this is significant business lost or what. Really hope it isn't. But you posting hear is helpful to me to see your side of things. I'm not on facebook, G+, etc, so have no idea if this is territory already covered. I do appreciate the steps you take to move people past these issues.

Hey Daniel,
We offer AS samples instead, it kills 2 birds with one stone typically. With over 50+ scents, soap samples are just impossible to do. We are already slammed with orders, wholesale orders, etc. Smaller artisans can get away with it because they often just make soap and maybe a splash, we have soooo many different products and then there is the vendor side as well. Sadly, until we hire a person to just do samples (like maggard's did), it's just a dream. Who knows what the future holds though? Smile Good question!

Ahhh the ingredients. When that cropped up in a certain forum I swooped right in (pg 4?) and answered. By the time of this thread it really was a moot point, the error had already been corrected on our labels and fixed. The label in question was an old one. It was the order of ingredients that was wrong. But I understand your concern. However, as we speak in this thread today our soaps are currently in a lab in the EU on route to being EU certified! So this should put a lot of concern to rest.
