Thanks for your input - I have a hidden agenda in starting this thread.  I love vetiver but I haven't tried all that many and I'm not even aware of some.  This thread has been very educational for me.
Thanks,
Mark

LOL I'd be totally for that of course. I don't know why it was discontinued but that decision is up to Will. All I will say is that I'd certainly buy it if it were to be released in the Glissant base. The only thing that kept me from purchasing it previously is that it was in the original formula and I had extremely hard water. I'd adore Vetyver Santal in Glissant and would certainly recommend it to others, especially since the scent is so high quality and reminiscent of both the vetiver and sandalwood classics (simultaneously). Actually, I should add that I think that the Vetyver Santal scent is one of Will's masterpieces. Too bad it didn't sell more Sad.

As for the fragrances, give some of those I mentioned a shot. I think you'll find that each of them highlight the vetiver note in a very different way.

I haven't tried too many vetiver shaving soaps (I did have B&M's Vetiver, Heather, & Clary Sage for a bit), but I much enjoy Tabula Rasa Vetiver & Tangerine, which has a nice, earthy, natural vetiver scent.

Vetiver and Tangerine is also great! I'd put it as my second favorite (as a vetiver scent) only because the citrus is more dominant to my nose.

I just shaved with Tabula Rasa Vetiver & Tangerine last week, it was very nice. I really like vetiver.

Guerlain Vetiver is beautiful. I'd have included this in my suggestions for fragrances, but I'm really not a fan of the new version. My favorite is the ribbed bottle formulation that was around a few years ago.

B&M Vetyver Santal is the closest soap I have to true Vetyver and I love it. It may even be my favorite scent of all but then each time I shave with Lavanille I think it's my favorite, and the same when I shave with Leviathan. Oh well, I guess I don't have a favorite but Vetyver Santal is amazing. I wonder why Will is discontinuing it. I was hoping he might come up with a matching aftershave for it.

B&M Vetyver Santal and Wholly Kaw Vetivertal are the only two soaps I tried and liked the scent of both. I did not like Fine fresh or clean vetiver aftershaves. Mainly because the scent is strong and stays with you all day with power behind - too much for me.

Hi gregcss while I don't mind the Fine Fresh/Clean they don't smell like vetiver to me but more of a cologne-like aftershave.  They do persist longer than some.  I was walking through a department store recently and had a whiff of the Creed colognes they had on sale including the Vetiver one.  I'd have to try it on my skin to be sure but again they struck me as a cologne-like fragrance and a bit powerful for my tastes. I like vetiver thats more earthy - smokey I think is how I would describe it.  I haven't tried any Wholly Kaw yet but I've heard good things about it.

That ribbed bottle version is the one I have and I didn't realize it had been reformulated. Nine times out of ten, when I hear 'reformulated', the first thought that goes through my mind is, "Uh oh."
