Indian Wilkinson Sword tore me apart and that's very strange coming from a Gillette blade. Personna Barbers under a drug store brand were like course sandpaper and just as bad or worse that the Indies. Other than that every other blade I've tried has at least been shavable but all Lord blades, except Lord Platinum, and Dorco ST-300s are pretty bad too.

Now that I have several months experience, and am getting very good shaves without needing transfusions, I decided to systematically work my way through my trial bundle of blades. I found the Astra SP to be too harsh in my modern razors, a Maggard's V2 open comb and V3 safety bar. My face felt like I'd rubbed it with sandpaper. But before that experience, I had used the Astra SP in a Gillette Super-Speed, and had great shaves. This is the first blade in my experience that worked in one razor and not well in another. I had read comments from others about that but had never experienced it.

Hi Eric, that has been my experience as well - what may be great in one razor is awful in another. This means that every time I get a different razor I have to more or less go through the same trial process which is why its important to keep notes. My memory isn't as good as I imagine it once was - I have no clear recollection of a sharp memory but I'm sure it was better at some point, I low that I used to do very well on exams requiring memorization. Some razors are more forgiving and work well with a range of blades like the ikon SC #102 Slant and others seem to like only one blade like the Feather AS-D2/Feather blade combination. Its all part of the process. I found early on when I was using the EJ DE89 that I didn't like the Astra greens but could use the Astra blues, now in several other razors the Astra greens are good. Go figure.
Enjoy the Journey
