drdeemanda Wrote:Can someone please explain how razor blades can feel so different?I wonder the same thing. I've even had the thought that the st Petersburg plant cranks out an endless ribbon of blades only changing the name inked on them. But my face knows better. They are different no doubt. Not as different as the spine edge of a Gem SE but different sure enough.

Thanks, Marko! I agree with everything you said.I have 3 adult sons. Bought the oldest an a Merkur 34C, the next an EJDE89, and the youngest this Chieftain razor. Gave him a 5 pack of Gillette 7 o’clock Yellows with it after confiscating the enclosed blades. The Chieftain is actually a pretty decent razor. Viking blades are awful, at least with my beard. I'd already read about them, thus my substitution.
Enjoy your shaves,
Jeff

Its sometimes hard to tell among the membership here at DFS who is a novice and who is a seasoned shaver so I'll always be respectful when offering tips or suggestions because I know as well as anyone that we can all learn something from each other if we keep an open mind and a sense of humour.

Is the Chieftan adjustable like a Fat Boy?
Hands down worst 3 blades I have ever used were in order of worst being a tie of Graham Field and Tiger with the Assured blade a close 3rd. Now, back to read others hated blades......
