metal_shavings i enjoy audio books mostly while driving. And some of my favorite books have been read by the author. Geddy Lee's My Effin' Life was amazing, both well written and read.

Ah, the man who made me want a Rickenbacker bass!!! Which I still don't own. I had been listening to it at night, and a few times when I was out for a few in my car. This one was read by the author. Some others sounded like a fake voice even though they listed a reader. Those kinda turned me off.

C. S. Lewis' inspiration for The Screwtape Letters was a persuasive speech made by Adolph Hitler shortly after the Dunkirk evacuation.  Lewis decided to write a book showcasing evil from the Devil's point of view.  Hence, The Screwtape letters - a series of letters from senior demon Uncle Screwtape, advising and encouraging his nephew, junior demon Wormwood.

Surely not everyone's cup of tea, but "me" is the only thing I do well.  OTOH, the book discusses the very informal way in which humans develop the foundations for formal mathematical concepts.

Crime and Punishment... Dostoyevsky is often a tough read.

I read this in 1985. Almost 40 years later... a revisit is needed. I want to reread 1984 and Animal Farm next.
