I'm only about 25% into it so the story is still fleshing out.

The Little Sister by Raymond Chandler

Note from the back cover: "A movie starlet with a gangster boyfriend and a pair of siblings with a shared secret lure Marlowe into the less-than-glamorous and more-than-a-little-dangerous world of Hollywood fame."

Have you ever read a book that you enjoyed so much that you couldn't pass it on or donate it but, rather, keep it on your bookshelf so the story stays close and you can pick up the book and read parts of it again, if not the whole story?  Perhaps that's just me but this is one of those books I could not part with once I was done reading it.

I saw this for $1.00 a few months ago and remembered when the film came out, though I didn't see it.  I am finally getting to it and am quite enjoying it.

I enjoy Stephen Hunter's Bob Lee Swagger stories, I've read almost all of Hunter's books with the exception of I, Ripper which deals with Jack the Ripper.  A bit to clinically graphic and disturbing for me.  This one is his latest and its starting out a little slow but promises to get moving I think.

This is my first read of this Scottish author.  It's a modern gothic tale with a touch of humor.  Although I'm less than a quarter of the way into the book, I am completely absorbed in the story and the main character.

"Spark of Life" Every now and then I like to reread his books. Makes me realize how lucky I am.

A look at the complexities of war on the home front.
I found it parallels much of today's news.
