I'm often an outlier, but I would not support any product being promoted by undisclosed shills. If Mohammad has undisclosed shills at work, and you're aware of it, why would you care when his products will be released?

I'm often astounded on these forums by those who expect vendors, who may or may not be mere hobbyists, to provide Amazon- or Nordstrom-like customer service (just to pick on a couple of local retailers). Mohammad has not yet faced the wrath bestowed upon James at Wolfman, but I'd hate to see that sort of vitriol again. These folks should be able to run their businesses however they want--and if you don't like it, don't buy.

I'm no longer going to be silent!

Your insult implied I'm an accomplice with the gentlemen who are saying positive things about my products. I hope you refrain from these accusations unless you can provide some backup to these accusations.

Shilling

- A person who works energetically to sell or promote something

That's me, I'm shilling my products Smile I'm a one person artisan shop. I research ingredients, I make soaps and other products, I design my own labels, I pack orders and I take to the orders USPS! I'm very passionate about what I do, and by god, It rubs so many people the wrong way, because they have these ideas that artisans don't compete, they have these odd notions that artisans shouldn't really engage in shilling Smile Some feel it's hype that my products get mentioned often around here. I rub some other wrong way for a multitude of other reasons, c'est la vie! Guess what, my products are more popular on BadgerBlade and Instagram than on DFS, so much for the hype around these quarters!

I don't give my finished products to any one. I have given few to people on youtube but I wont do that again. Many people who hang out on this forum have been super kind to me from my very first month in business.  I'm constantly working on new formulae and producing small batches which I like to give away. I gave away 82 pre-shaves to people here, on B&B and Instagram. I didn't stipulate to any of them that they need to post any public comments. I have always ended my emails by saying: "I hope you like the preshave and I look forward your feedback". 21 of the 82 have not gotten back to me. I will not bother them. I gifted them the preshave unconditionally. I give away my products as I iterate over various formulae. I'm sure you've seen that companies give away products, and many artisans do the same thing.

I hope this clarifies my intentions, and the intentions of the customers who enjoy and like to talk about my products.

I was very early user of Grooming Dept soaps. As soon as I came out and raved about it I was accused of being a shill or associated with this product. Then people started using it and then all the sudden they were agreeing with me. I have absolutely no affiliation with this company I just love his products and his passion and his Devotion to put out some of the best if not the best soaps and other products that he is coming out with. I was able to get one of the pre Shaves and it is unlike anything else it enhances the slickness of any soap and the post-shave feel is wonderful unlike anything else. I will continue to buy and support this artisan for all that he does. There's no need to talk any negativity if you don't want to use his product then don't buy it it's a simple as that. For a person putting his heart and soul and to everything he does I commend him. Again I am not here to defend or debate anybody this is my experience and my honest opinion.

82 pre-shaves? That's some serious giveaway. 20 pre-shaves wouldn't offer you the feedback you were looking for? You might didn't ask for public reviews, but didn't you expect them since they are participating in forums?

I always respect the passionate artisan makers, but have a hard time believing the reviewers that receive any product for free. It can be great, it can be the best product on the market, but it's in the human nature to make rave reviews about anything we receive for free, even if it is less than excellent, we say it's excellent. There are companies out there that every time a consumer complains they send products for free to gain a lifetime customer. It's just marketing. I just have to see it for myself to judge whether it's good or not. I much more believe some reviewers that I know they paid for the reviewing item, they're more honest, if we can say so.

I made a thread the other day on TSN about pre-shaves, if they work or not, and a member just copy pasted the review he made here, saying it's a preproduction product and it's the best ever. Now I understand that he received it for free. Could be true, I don't know, but the thread wasn't about the best pre-shaves but rather a general discussing thread. I deserve my right to be suspicious any time I see things like these.

Don't get me wrong but I've seen things like these happening all the time on forums since 2012. Nothing new here.

Fair point but I can’t wait to actually purchase the pre-shave I’m testing and DFS is in no way aligned with GroomingDept.

But as you say nothing new. For six years since 2012 I have witnessed moderators on The Shave Nook eulogize ad nauseam products sold exclusively through Bullgoose which is owned by the gent who runs TSN. Can’t get more obvious than that.

The 82 samples were given over 13 formula iterations which lasted about 6.5 months.

Humans need to restrain themselves and shouldn't run around flinging accusations based on suspicions they might have or gossip or innuendos. If one doesn't like a product or one doesn't like the persons who stand behind a product, one should just move along. Wetshaving forums should be about sharing joy from products one loves, sharing and respectfully discussing products discoveries and yes sometimes rooting for a product one loves. 99% of the time this seems to be the case. I'll take that Smile

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

What accusations exactly?

I think you purposely missed the point of my post, but never mind. Experienced wet shavers take this kind of reviews with a grain of salt. If you have bought items based on some "make a review with the free product you got" that didn't meet your expectations, then yes you're suspicious because there are money involved, you don't get it for free like others. Sure it's fun, but I don't think that you and other makers do it just for fun, you are sellers, you don't own a charitable institution.

I am not rawfox1.

My work at Fidelity Investments allows me to split my time between Boston, MA, Woodstock, VT and my home town of Dingle in County Kerry, Ireland.

I was in Ireland last week. They are called airplanes.

Mohammad had sent samples of earlier versions of his new bases to those who purchased in the past. I have tried the Lusso and Janus V16 bases.

BPman...can you just give it a break already.
