Chris, what did you think of the Dior Sauvage.  As you may know, Peter (NeoXerxes) and I have totally different thoughts on it (and an ongoing tease between us ).  He likes it and I loathe it.  Besides body chemistry, I wonder why the same scent, and the chemical that produces it, can trigger such opposite reactions in a product that is meant to smell good. Of course there is no right or wrong but what sets off our reactions?

Oh yes, my fragrance, as well as my aftershave, was the same this morning, Barrister & Mann Rhapsody Aftershave Splash.

I like it, alot. Very clean smelling with a touch of fruit and floral scent to my nose.

To me it smells like a vase of fresh picked flowers sitting next to a bowl of fresh fruit. The softness of the flowers with the juicy enticement of the fruit.

That's the best I can do for a description...lol

Really?!   To me it smells like walking too close to an open sewer.  Which brings me back to my question as to why we perceive the same scent so differently.

My nose is a little weird due to years of cigarette smoking, but I'm pretty sure someone would have said something if I smelled like literal crap all morning. My co-workers aren't what you would call sensitive, or "politically correct", so I definitely would have heard about it...lol

I cannot imagine you smelling like anything remotely awful.  Also, Dior must have tested the scent quite a bit before bringing it to market.  At best, it smells like every other current scent at Macy's, just way stronger.  I wonder where Barrister_N_Mann, NeoXerxes, onethinline, and CHSeifert are and what their opinions might be as to why an EdT or cologne scent can be perceived so differently by different people.

MAN do I love this scent! I think this sample is of the EdP, as the scent is sticking around much longer and much stronger than the EdT sample I also have. Just fantastic!

I believe it should be labeled accordingly so you should be able to check!

Checked the label when I got home...definitelyvthe parfum. Good stuff!

This morning I put on Tiffany for Men. This is the first time a random stranger has gine out of her way to mention how much she liked my cologne. It was a nice feeling!

I own both versions and actually blend them. Winter I put perfume on last and more of it, summer I put on the EDT last and less of the perfume.

You should also try the Eau Fraiche version. I can warmly recommend it, especially for spring & summer.

I love Sauvage and get mad compliments on it. What can I say? Hehe .

Went with Creed's Royal Mayfair today.

All kidding aside, Peter, any thoughts on why the two of us can perceive any scent, but this one in particular, so very differently?  Both Chris and you get compliments yet I cannot get anywhere near it.  However, as I have stated in the past, I love Dior's Eau Sauvage, a completely different beast with a similar name.

I was actually telling someone this earlier today. About three years ago, Monell Chemical released a study in which they determined that olfactory receptors may vary as much as 30% between any two human beings. The practical result of this is that you and I may smell a scent quite differently (30% is a LOT), regardless of which of the various theories of olfaction is actually correct (in all likelihood, it's all of them). My guess is that you simply perceive it differently than Peter or Claus do. For what it's worth, Freddy, I share your distaste for the new Sauvage, and far prefer the original Roudnitska design.
