Yes, Marko.

My mother had numerous stories about growing up as a very poor but close knit family, on the farm, then in Lipton and finally in Regina as did her brother and three sisters. Stories related to my generation and my children's generation and my grandchildren's generation.

Stories of great sadness and of great joy, like so many Canadian immigrants none of whom relied on welfare.
But what a great and wondrous country they built.

Freddy,

San Diego looks like a fairyland.
Living in Toronto, tall buildings don't do much for me.
I have never been up the CN Tower. The second rung on a stepladder makes me shudder. My son, Jeff, was a skydiver. Go figure?
But those palm trees are awesome and beautiful.

celestino, sadly, I did not take those particular photos but they are representative of my city.

Mickey Oberman, I love what skyscrapers do to a city skyline.  I have been up to the top of the CN Tower twice and even had my picture taken laying on the glass floor.  A friend and I also ate in Canoe (not sure if it is still in existence), a restaurant on the 54th floor of a skyscraper in the financial district.  The views were amazing, as was the food.  Toronto is a fabulous city and you are fortunate to live there.

About those palm trees, Mickey.  I moved to San Diego from Toledo in September, 1975.  Of course, two months later, the city started getting decked out for the holidays.  It was a total shock the first time I saw a palm tree decked out in Christmas lights.  Now, I take it as a matter of course. Smile

Freddy, you are very brave, indeed.
Okay, I am a chicken. Have you ever seen a chicken fly?

I have never heard of the Canoe restaurant. But Toronto has over 7,000 restaurants with food choices from all over the world and wonderful people and their languages and accents and customs from all over.

I do love this place. There is a street named after my late son, Paul. Paul Oberman Walk.
A Belvedere is being built around their large property, by an architect's association, that will also bear his name.

So my life and my family's are happily tied into this place. There is so much to attract here from the classiest hotels to rough, natural wilderness and every possible and imaginable thing in between.

We moved to the Cincinnati area about 16 years ago.

Aside from the job, one of the major attractions that drew us was the Little Miami Bike Trail - 78 miles of bliss.

Part of the bike trail I take to work.

Freddy - My only real experience with San Diego was a 12 week stay at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot.  So forgive me if my view of the city is a little jaded.  Wink

I was born and lived in the suburbs of Chicago my entire life. Huge life in "04", brought me to Fort Smith, Arkansas.

I love the natural beauty of the three different mountain ranges. The outstanding  state park system. Love the history of Fort Smith, and the south in general. The milder winters.

No worries. Winking

The one time I was supposed to go to Cincinnati, I was with a friend and heading back to Toledo.  I was already in San Diego and had gone back for a visit.  Sadly, we could not get a hotel room in the Cincinnati area, where we planned to stop for a day or two and explore the city, so we just pushed ourselves and drove all the way back to Toledo.  I would have loved to have been able to do a bit of exploring in your city.  Someday.
