What do you do when you carry on? (an airplane)

I travel a lot, domestically and internationally.  My rule of thumb is, if I'm going to miss it, I don't bring it.  Too many variables with TSA and international locations.

If I'm driving, yes, I'll bring a nice setup, otherwise a simple setup will do.  Most of the time I'm busy and I don't have time to really enjoy a good calming shave, so it is all about expediency.

Yep, I won't bring any gear that I would be afraid to lose.

My 2 cents.....I have wondered for years what people do in diff countries.

I travel almost weekly (around SE Asia) and have to check in when taking razors. I have used straights for almost 5 years so haven't tried de's thought the airport. A couple years back I lost a feather straight razor, after traveling same route a dozen times with no blades in it, it got flagged and confiscated. Pretty frustrating.
In similar situation, lost a dovo shavette too, again without blades.
Now, I am lucky that I have an office at each end so I leave some gear there. I do this with a strop too. Saves a load of time on short trips.

I almost always elect to go carry-on only to avoid all the waiting for checked luggage. I'm actually on vacation right now, heres my carry-on setup;

- Palmolive Shave Stick
- RR Plissoft
- Gillette Guard (surprisingly good)
- Gillette Sensitive Aftershave (not the best but love the smell)

Does the job in an efficient manner and I wouldn't be upset to lose any of the products listed.

Did a lot of flying last year for interviews and later a string of vacations. My kit:

- Feather MR3
- Maggard's 24mm synth brush
- Speick stick
- Speick aftershave

The MR3 is a cart but it's a Feather cart. No tugging, no irritation, no problems. TSA doesn't even give it a second glance since it's a cart, but you don't have to worry about subpar Gillette cart shaves.

Sticks and synths are the way to go IMO. Bathroom space is at a premium in hotels sometimes, so not having to load out of a tub is great. Synths dry super quick so you can shave the morning of departure if needed and not worry about the brush.

Agree with the notion that if you can't lose it, don't bring it. My kit cost like $40 in total, all easily replaced if lost.

I have used the single-blade BiC sensitive disposables and they are pretty good, but the BiC METAL single-blade disposables are great. I couldn't find them for sale anywhere, and I was running low, but now Amazon's gottem. The Gillette Guard gives a good shave, but I don't care for the pivoting head.

One other nice thing about those orange and white BiC sensitives; at least in North America, they are available everywhere! At the all-night convenience store they may only offer one razor for sale, but it will almost certainly be one of these:

Sounds to me like it's not worth the trouble of traveling with a DE (unless you're checking your baggage). If I went on vacation for a week or longer, I guess I'd either bring a cartridge razor (of which I currently have none, maybe a Gillette Guard) or I'd buy a cheap pack of disposables at my destination. Either that, or I'd just not shave.

As Freddy said, I mail myself a blade ahead of time if that's an option.
