There's a small scene here in SF: I've been taking improv comedy and sketch writing classes here. But I'm seriously looking into moving to Chicago, home of Second City, iO, Annoyance Theater, etc. Great training ground there!

I've had a lot of apparently unrelated jobs in my life:  restaurant, retail, customer service, a bank in the Middle East, language teaching in Italy, herbalist, and then my soap making hobby became my business.  There's an Italian proverb, "impari l'arte e mettila da parte" which roughly translated means that it's a good idea to learn skills because some day they could be useful. Everything I've done has contributed in some way to what I do now.  I'm lucky because I enjoy my work.  Smile

Ex teacher & now a potter. Although I work all the time I never "go to work" so I'll never retire, I'll just be a potter till I kick it. Unless I purchase a 27ft sailboat and head for warmer waters! HA

I still have a piece of clay pottery that I made in art class in middle school sitting on my desk at home. I think it was an attempt at an ash tray for my Mom since she's a smoker.
