What DE blade do I want?

I've been through several blades over the past few years and kinda lost track of favorites. The only one I remember not liking was Wilkinsons that felt like they pulled rather than cut hair.

Below is a list of what has come and gone. I'm hoping for recommendations on a "one blade" to rule them all.

• Astra SP - Great in my Rockwell 6S, good in my Charcoal Goods Gen 3 Level 2, not a fan in my Blackland Tradere.
  
• Polsilver Iridium - I remember that these were OK, but were replaced with...
  
• Personna Platinum/Reds - This was my long time favorite until I ran out of a 200 pack. Not sure if these are the same as...
  
• Personna Lab Blue - currently my favorite in my Blackland Tradere (not surprising that this is the blade Blackland includes with the razor).

Blade preferences are totally subjective, and my recommendation means nothing. But Nacet.

I should note that when I started shaving with
a DE ,I did tried myself the Wilkinson Sword blades and found them to be super tugging .
Some years later ,I gave them a second chance...Wow !

Nowadays ,Wilkinson Sword are amongst
my top blades and have stocked couple
of hundreds of them .

Try as much different blades possible .
Always get two packs.
Use all the blades of the first pack to
get a first impression and keep the second
one ,to try again after a year or two.
You might be surprised !

Wet shaving blade law #1 : Blades do get better ,the more experience
is accumulated !

But by the time you ‘ve gained enough experience ,you might discover that you can
actually get a good shave using almost any blade ,no matter which.
Though ,with some you get consistently that
“zen” shaving bliss.

You should try 10-20 different .
Just make sure that the “ Keen Five “ :
- Gillette Nacet
- Gillette Silver Blue
- Gillette 7 o ‘clock Super Platinum
( the made in India ,“black ninja” ones )
- Gillette Perma Sharp
- Gillette Platinum
...are among those you try !

And definitely you should give the Wilkies another go ,after some time !

For me the one blade to rule them all is the Feather. Its sharp and smooth and lasts me 8 to 10 shaves.

It works very well in the Rockwell 6s.

I think that for a blind buy, and a reasonable compromise of cost vs. efficiency, a great choice would be Wizamet or Polsilver Super Iridiums.

I settled on the Personna Med Prep as my "one blade". It's kind of a chameleon - a little smoother than the Lab Blues in my Blackland Tradere, a little more efficient than the Astra SP in my Rockwell 6S. In short, the perfect match for all of my razors.

There is no such thing as one blade to rule them all.

Blade preferences are highly dependent upon your beard type (tough or not), your skin type (sensitive or not) and the razor in which it is used.

Those with tough, coarse beards need very sharp blades, those with fine beards can use most anything. As you age, your beard may get tougher.

Those with sensitive skin need a very smooth blade, Those with less sensitive skin may be able to use most anything.

If you are using a highly aggressive razor like the Muhle R41, you probably will need a less sharp blade than you could use in something as mild as a Superspeed.

That is why you see so much disagreement on which blades are best. According to sales figures, Astra SP blades are the most popular blades in the States. However, they are neither sharp enough for my beard nor smooth enough for my face in any razor I own. Thus, what works well for someone else might not work for you.
