For sure.

I use a strategy to extend the life of the cartridge:
• sunflower oil bath, for resting storage between shaves
• hot washing, before shaving to remove the protective oil cover
• Kneipp treatment, after each use (see my previous post)
• blade maintenance, with 20 passes on leather strop
• bath oil again

With this method the durability results are incredible.

Very specifically, stepwise, how do you execute the Kneipp method?

As you can see above, It's easy.
When I finish shaving, just use water at different temperatures.

• warm water, to clean the soap
• cold water, to clean the limestone

Here the full procedure, step by step:
1. Clean with hot water from the tap (55 ºC)
2. Clean with cold water from the tap (room temperature)
3. Wipe with a terry towel
4. Blow off the little residual moisture from the cartridge
5. Place the cartridge on the microfiber patch and move the blades vertically, leveraging the shock absorbers
This limits limestone deposits as much as possible.

Then I strop it 20 passes one way up on leather and put it back in the sunflower oil bath.
All this, with practice, today takes me a couple of minutes with each shave.
But it incredibly extends the life of each cartridge.

Actually, I use this method with every blade.
Because of this, you can see in SOTDs ...
DE with 15 - 20 shaves
GEM with 20 - 30 shaves
Injector with 40 - 50 shaves
AC with 50 - 60 shaves
Fusion ProGlide with over 400 shaves
The better the technology of the blade, the longer It lasts.

This is my fear, with Gillette Labs.
It'll take me decades to kill it!!!

So you honestly believe Gillette has taken the extra step to use the best blade quality possible with the Gillette Labs razor ?

I don't belive.
I trust in my skin.
Especially considering It’s clinically hyperreactive.

A previous generation (ProGlide), does not allow me the results I have with Labs.
I mean comfort during the day for more days.

Today, 16 consecutive uses without additional treatments.
No preshave. No postshave. Intentionally.
And everything is perfect.

Although the number is low, and therefore statistically little influential, for me it is very indicative since it has never happened to me before.

Today I wanted to take this experiment to the extreme.
A simple ultrasound gel, as a lubricant.
A full three-pass cycle with the new Gillette Labs.

I must say, I’m more and more surprised.
In the worst possible conditions, the result is excellent.
I took ease and depth for granted.
But comfort, especially during the day, I wouldn’t have bet a kopek full of holes.
But there is. Yes, there is.

Today the result is incredible. Shaving only with water.
Perfect. But especially without loss of comfort.

This is the cut left in the sink.
As you can see, there is only water and hair.

The synergy of hi-tech products is phenomenal.
Seven Potions cream is a worthy complement.

By adjusting the hydration of the lather, the cartridge flies!!!

I'm not that active in the fragrance game any longer.

I still use fragrances daily, but I've stopped buying them and I'm working on using my large collection up before they potentially could turn bad.

So I'm not posting that much about fragrances any more - I've lost the interest in fragrances quite a bit.

Don't get me wrong - I'll always be a fragrance head, but I'm tired of overhyped overpriced niche fragrances to be honest.

They - for the most part - are not worth it to me any longer.
Many of the niche fragrances are either copies of older classics or they try to be more than they really are.

Of course there are beautiful high quality niche fragrances out there, but there are too many clone like niche fragrances with too weird scents in my opinion.

I still own 250+ full bottles, that I'm working on using up as fast as I can - willl probably take me a decade.
When I run out of fragrances, I'll buy 20-25 high quality fragraces from Chanel, Dior, Hermes, Givenchy and Guerlain - and stop there.

Regarding thumb stropping a blade - take your Cartridge razor and run your thumb across the blade from the top blade to the end blade as if you would clean the blade with your thumb.

Of course you run your thumb with the grain of the blades and not against them, unless you would like to cut your thumb open LOL
You can also thumb strop a DE blade the same way.

Thumb stropping helps clean the blade's edge, removing water stains and removing microscopic metal from the blade.
I got a RazorPit cartridge blade "sharpener" a number of years ago.  It's basically a flat (hard) rubber surface that you strop the cartridge on.  It does extend the life of a cartridge and a bit safer than using your thumb.  I know for a fact that I would cut myself! Big Grin

As always a nice shave.
But less valid, for the different lather result. (here)

Today’s theme is comfort.
https://damnfineshave.com/thread-sotd-14...#pid498398
[Image: jy6P4Wbm.jpeg]

Battle between the young challenger and the champion.
Fusion SkinGuard has been talked about a lot.
But I must say, Gillette Labs doesn’t look bad at all.
Full shave in three steps for each, on one side.
After about ten hours the result is perfect.
Frankly I do not notice differences in comfort.
I wouldn’t have bet.
I’m surprised.
Pleasantly.

Slight differences in regrowth, in favor of the new.
Obviously, with more blades.
So more depth.
Not a lot more.
