No guilty pleasures here really.  I just enjoy the variety.

My wife asked me, "Why do have so many "insert any shaving item of choice here"?"

Because, each item offers a little bit different experience and I like that.

Guilty?  Nope.  Only when I think about how much money I've "saved" since I started shaving this way  Rolleyes .......

Guilty pleasure? Although Pure badgers are generally looked down upon on Reddit, (maybe even the brand Parker years ago) I really liked my Parker Pure Badger. It's scritch galore no doubt about it, but the splay, backbone, flow through, it's just perfect. I can't even remember a time when it shed one single hair to be honest. I am the kind of guy who freaks a little when I see a one of my brush shed so I think I would remember.

I wish I can find a brush with the same specs as this but with softer tips. That would be my ultimate brush.

Not ashamed of using it, but I actually really enjoy VDH Deluxe shave soap. Great lather, pretty dang slick and very cheap!

With regard to the OP.  I don't have any guilty pleasures.  My wife tries to make me feel guilty about everything I buy -- doesn't work.  I'll run the gamut from Arko to Mdc, from a Gold Dollar to a Custom made blade, I like them all.

With regard to the Gillettes.  Everybody that's trying to make DE razors now, is playing catch up, trying to make something that can compete with these fine old razors.  At the time they were made, the Gillette motto was "Give them the razor.  Sell them the blades."  Thus, it's true they didn't cost a lot of money back then, but I've got some that are 70 years old and I shave with them regularly.  Also, I'm quite proud to own them.

As a matter of fact, I just ordered what appears to be the last one of these Gillette Slims.  The Cubano by Delta Echo. Pretty hard to improve on that eh?

Guilty pleasure" -- isn't that an oxymoron? (At least, in the shaving realm.) The product that I love that a lot of people hate (but a lot of other -- discriminating Dodgy -- people love along with me) is:

Everything in my den is budget, vintage, or gifts from other shavers and I have no guilt nor shame in using, displaying and proudly declaring their sources, so my 2 "guilty pleasures" are the 2 most expensive items in my den.

First...My burl box elder silvertip badger brush. Not nearly as costly as many of the beautiful brushes I see, but at $65, it was an "investment" for me and was the most expensive and luxurious item in my den until I purchased my second "guilty pleasure"...

Second...my RazorEmporium.com horsehide strop. I mean...WOW! I have a Poor Man's Strop from WhippedDog.com that I attached to a board for a paddle strop. Works very well, cost about $10. I have a "Mac Professional Strop" that I received in a trade that also has performed very well for me. But neither of those compare to the luxury of stropping on this new horsehide strop. Smooooooooth, like butter. The strokes barely make a sound on the smooth leather side, and the linen side is equally a pleasure to use. My first real linen strop, this thing touches up an edge really quick, and has given me a new appreciation for what, exactly, a strop is used for. At $85 it is currently the single most expensive piece of gear in my den, and worth every penny.

My guilty pleasures are not in the same context as what others are calling, but they are outside of my budget, truthfully, and they are something that if I was married...I would have had to hide...something my budget cannot accomodate rationally, but which I bought and use with some guilt because I sacrificed elsewhere to get them. This is, to me, what a "guilty pleasure" really is...

I guess mine is more in line with what BadDad said since I try to be budget conscious with this hobby. It would be my DFS Limited Edition brush with the Envy White knot, the most expensive piece of gear I own. Although, the more I use it, the less guilt I feel about buying it! It is quite an awesome brush!

Oh man...I so badly wanted to get a DFS LE brush... I just couldn't make it happen at the time, and now they are sold out. Bummer. But I like seeing all the sotd photos with them in there!
