What are your disliked scents?

To all you haters of Bay Rum, thats fine, it just leaves more for those of us that truly appreciate it.  Actually I'm a little surprised how many people seem to dislike bay rum.  There must be a treatment for that disorder.

At my stage I smell how I want to smell not how my wife thinks I should smell - I know she loves me despite how I smell not because of it.

Tasty stuff. Doesn't displace standard German weissbier though.

Thats interesting, I love all things pumpkin-y as well. Maybe there's a genetic pre-disposition to liking pumpkin and bay rum.

I think it just happens to be all fall scents that I don't really like. YMMV I guess.

I don't like anything that resembles Vick's VapoRub. This includes eucalyptus, mint or menthol that hasn't been completely disguised. Fortunately, none of my current large crop of menthol products bears any scent resemblance to menthol.

I don't mind Vicks Vapo-Rub, memories of staying home from school sick -I got to watch the 1:00 o'clock movie on tv. As a (gruesome) aside, first responders going into places where a deceased person has been undiscovered for a while will put a dab of Vicks under their noses to help mask unpleasant odours. I doubt they have any pleasant associations with the smell.

I don't qualify to even comment on this thread because:
1. My background in scents is very recent and limited, and...
2. My age and sophistication level is indicated by the AS content of my cabinet, ie. Pinaud Clubman, Aqua Velva (the cold stuff), Mennen Skin Bracer and the Indian version of Old Spice (for its close resemblance to the old original formula out of NJ).

I'll not let those reasons stop me.however, and say that my inexperience may be an advantage in that I have never found a scent that I couldn't tolerate. Unless the scent was truly gross like that of decaying human flesh, I can put up with virtually anything! The lack of discernment might be explained by my ability to eat almost anything that various cultures consider edible. In my traveling days, I could sit to the table with anyone and 'go native'! I was an atypical American traveller.

I tend to dislike heavy earthy scents such as Vetiver, Cedar, Pine, Earth, Patchouli as I find them incredibly boring. However I enjoy many of these when they are used as backing notes.

Bay Rum has never been a big favourite of mine because the Clove is just to much. Some of the less spicy offerings are manageable.

Any modern cologne style scents are a big no no. The only soap I have ever enjoyed that fits into these categories that I have liked would be CRSW Vetiver Moderne. This is only down to the plum making it very different.

I tend to really enjoy fruit forward or sweet scents.
