For my 2 cents, there is a reason these soaps have survived and been around so long.

Obviously there are many much superior scents to that... But performance-wise I still think it's in another league than even my next best (whatever that is, I'm not even sure). And my shave with it yesterday reaffirms that status.

Wow, agreed except I'm lucky in that the scent is awesome to my nose.

I assume you are talking about Sandalwood, whereas I was just talking about Unscented.

I might be. When researching sandalwoods during Sir Henry’s development, that’s one I didn’t get my hands on.

On workdays (slick, inexpensive and a soapy washhouse scent):
Williams Mug
Haslinger Marigold
Abschaum by Rumble 59

On weekends (indulgence):
SV Stella Alpina (I also have and like Felce Aromatica and 70th Anniversary)
LPL Oud-santal
Boellis Panama Daytona
Boellis Panama 1924 (all-time fairest bowl!)
Wickham's Parma Violet
RR's The Dead Sea (this is together with Santa Maria del Fiore their premium line and better than their standard line)

Stirling Soaps

After trying most of the top end soaps this is where I’ve settled, two of the very best out there. I no longer try other soaps and I love that feeling as for awhile I spent way too much money on shaving soaps, so glad those days are over. Heck, I no longer by DE anymore as the Charcoal Goods is king! It’s pretty refreshing to no longer be chasing the newest shave product out there.

Grooming Dept better than B&M, Nuavia, Boelis for me. I prefer GD for dry skin. GD with pre shave and Serum from GD is premium shaving. Than Glade from CRSW, A&E, Shannon's, M & M is realy good.

Always Mike's and SV

I wait to try Sebum.

Every aspect of my shave has improved since using Grooming Dept soap. Each base is slightly different but all produce amazing results for me. The fact that most (maybe all) of these bases are available as unscented is just the icing on the cake. Just checked my order history and since Dec 2017 when I received my first GD order I haven’t used another brand of soap in that time. No desire to. Just can’t get over how not only are the shaves amazing but the quality of my skin which has some persistent issues has improved dramatically.
