Not post shave balm but Grooming Dept's preshave will add the post shave qualities that you want even when you're using a lesser performing soap.

If it's half as good as the price is probably good

I've actually been using that pre-shave off and on to get a feel for what's really going on with it.

Are you using it as instructed? A pea sized amount worked into your face until it starts to soap up a bit. Lather right over the top of it. Use it every day for a week to ten days and see what it does for your skin.
Yeah the pre-shave is nice, I think it does add some slickness I can definitely tell around some really strange chin areas that I have to deal with(very sensitive to razors touch). And I want a soap with good post-shave I think it helps kick it up a little bit, the post shave that is.
I've got a particular soap that I think I like a lot (B&M excelsior base) but the post shave just isn't there, for me. Just seems like there should be a relatively cheap alternative for post-shave, because isn't the post-shave coming from the butters and such anyway.

And you're right that pulled up to post-shave love that soap be very good, thank you for bringing that to my attention sir.
I really like the excelsior performance but the post shave is really lacking compared to others. Honestly I don’t really understand the hype for b&m. The scents are great, and performance is good but the post leaves a lot to be desired for my skin.
Otherwise I agree with a lot of your list. The newest club/ae base is fabulous and I’ve really come around on Talbot
