Wearing A Fake Rolex

Real or not, I am not a fan of automatics because I dont like setting the date and time after not wearing the watch for 2 days in a row. Has tech caught up to address this? If not, go quartz movement.

Typically wear an automatic or carry one of these - nothing like an old pocket watch. 120 years old and runs like a charm.

Here's mine. Bought it in 2001-2002 or so. I no longer wear watches. In the past I would wear it Monday through Friday meaning it would sit over the weekend and need to be manually reset late Sunday or Monday morning. Supposedly quartz is more accurate than automatic/mechanical movement and does not need to be reset after a period of resting.

Fascinating history of the Morgan silver dollars. 656,977,299 were produced to prop up silver prices in the late 1800's - early 1900's. Many languished in bags in mint and post office vaults until the 1960's when they were sold off buy the GSA.

I'm another one that doesn't buy fake anything. There is no shame in not being able to afford the real thing. I can't afford a real Rolex right now, so I'll wear what I can afford. Each of sees things differently and we have to conduct ourselves according to whatever our personal beliefs are.

As long as you don't advertise it as a genuine one then that's fine. I know a very wealthy man who bought a fake Rolex in Turkey and he has no hesitation in letting people know that. To him it looks good enough and in case it gets snatched it's not that big of a deal.

I also know a couple of people who wear fake watches and post photos of their watches online passing them off as genuine. That's a no go for me. Being a watch person I can tell a bad fake from a genuine watch.

The only fake one I ever bought was a Marc Newson Ikepod...because it had a great design
and the genuine one was way overpriced. Once it died, and many usually do, I threw it away. Now I dont wear
a watch...the phone is enough...plus my wrists feel a lot light and I can swing my arms without being frightened of dinging anything.

I hear you. I solved the problem by getting a Casio ana-digi watch. The smaller ana-digi watches frequently have some of the digital information obscured by the hands, but the larger watches are much better. eBay sells a ton of ana-digi watches not sold in the US. Analog style with automatic digital day / date.

For casual wear, I just a use Casio G-Shock. It has lasted 30 years so far, and I have taken it over 120 feet down when diving. Still runs like a champ.

Why would anybody get a fake watch anyways? Most have truly craptastic Chinese-made movements, and so represent a poor value for the money. Trying to fake other people out seems a little phony IMHO, whether it is watches, fountain pens, or any other luxury goods. I don't think there is anything morally wrong with it, copyright issues notwithstanding. It just seems tacky to me.
