These Dirty Bird scuttles are great!
The tapered top bowl uses so much less water to soak a brush!!
AND there’s much less water to heat and keep warm!

You guys are making me want to use a scuttle seeing as how I don't have one.
I don't know what my wife will say if I do a test with a couple of stainless steel bowls, just to see if I like it.

Keith,
I’m sure she will be happy for you.
She wants you to be a happy shaver!
Just order a scuttle from dirty bird, it takes a little while for her to make one for you…

Julie at Dirty Bird Pottery makes great stuff! I have one of her brush scuttles and had her make the insert a little wider than normal to accommodate larger knots. Julie is happy to customize items for you. I also have a large regular scuttle and a few shaving bowls from her as well. For a gift last year, I ordered a French butter dish and one of those tea mugs with the tea bag side car for my wife. She loved them!

Here us the Dirty Bird website. The site hasn’t been updated ever! I guess if it works don’t change it.

I just noticed the Notice on her site. It seems that she’s had medical issues and isn’t taking orders for now. I hope Julie gets well soon.

Her site said that for a while. Then one day she was open for business again and that is when I placed an order last year. So I guess she is closed for now.
So if you are interested in ordering, just check back with her website every once in a while.

This is the one I think is the unsung hero. The price on this went up but I still will end up getting a couple more just as gifts. I think this is the best materials as it wont break on damage anything when it hits somethings else. It also it durable enough and appropriate around ceramic sinks or tile floors. I never liked the idea of the big ceramic scuttles although I know for years they have served and pleased many shavers. I'm more inclined to think if I would've been clumsy and broke it soon after getting one. I'm pretty hard on all of my shaving gear so stuff gets really put to the test. Most importantly, use what you enjoy. YMMV

Cheers

Good luck finding one. I found this one at a thrift store, but all the new ones I've seen have deep honeycomb surfaces on both sides.
Difficult to rinse and dry.

Probably have to resort to Amazon.
