Gladly shaving like a girly man with all this modern fluff. Glad to have that cleared up now Wink

OK, but what is your avatar hairy thing?
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

Toby, that’s badger hair in my avatar. Btw, if I remember right, aren’t badger hair brushes older that boar hair brushes? Thought Plisson was first on the scene to make shave brushes so shouldn’t you be pro badger? Wink

Horse and boar are the oldest, going back to at least the mid 1800's, I don't know what Emperor Napoleon's "beard brush" had in it.

Here is what I posted last night but wanted to see if I can find out more. After posting this image, I wasn't sure if when Plisson started whether they used badger or boar bristle. I will send them a message on IG to see if they will share.

Vintage only. I had started using an Edwin Jagger DE-89, but started experimenting with Vintage Gillettes. I prefer butterfly Razors because they are much easier to load.

My favorite Vintage Gillette is the Blue Tip Razor.

Both.
vintage: Long-comb New, Slim Adjustable, Schick type K1 ("Lady Eversharp") injector

new: Edwin Jagger DE87, Henson AL13 Mild, RazoRock SLOC

I think it would have to be the EJ DE87, with the Henson running a close second.

Yes, many of the new razors lack a certain sort of soul, which is the one thing I like less about the Henson, which out-performs all my other razors.
Conversely the DE87, while modern-ish, still has a classic vibe and I especially love the rocker curve on the bottom of the base plate.
Identical to the one on the DE89 (and some of the Mühles too), I gather:

But the faux ivory handle is so much nicer.
