Just a question, but what's up with USPS? East cost hurricane or something else? I am being serious, 2-day priority mail never takes a week. Now I have 2 packages, one of them being from B&M, still stock in NY after a full week.

I suspect that in the interests of cost cutting they have closed the NY sorting facility or have turned it into a mental ward and are letting the inmates run it. Watch out for the drool on the packages and letters you receive. Oh, and they could be all stuck together.
Seriously though, I had a 1st class package take 2 weeks to get to VA. After I re-sent it by priority mail, and days after the PM package arrived, the 1st class mail did too. Now tracking is no longer an option on 1st class. You pay for it whether you want it or not now, and it's completely useless (so in essence it was a rate hike). Tracking was on that 1st class package, so I contacted USPS to inquire where it was in the system; after all, I paid for tracking. They're supposed to get back to you in 3 days. Many more than 3 days later I called them and was told that they contacted me (they hadn't), and that my package had been stolen. You see, they couldn't convince Congress to allow another rate hike, and Congress wouldn't bail them out with more billions either, so they are forcing us to buy products that we don't want. I expect next they'll force us to pay for priority mail service with ALL 1st class mail including letters. Then they'll reopen the NY sorting center, after having "lost" the backlog of mail that is piling up at the doors.
The USPS has finally realized in a larger way that they are connected to the federal go'vermin, and in keeping with the theme of being "the fed's" it appears that they've taken the attitude that we're only here to be stolen from in order to keep the workers at USPS in their jobs. So bend over and grab your ankles. Its like April 15th on a repeat basis only now it's with USPS getting in on the financial gang rape of US citizens.
At least that's my take on it. A humorous one I hope, but with a firm basis in reality.
The service from USPS is getting worse and worse. I don't know what they do in CA, but locally here in Maine in order to make the service easier to use and attract business they initiated at least a year ago very limited hours of office operation. The satellite offices are only open during a narrow window of hours. Of course they do this to "save money", but only someone from the government could possibly think along those lines since the heat is still on, the lights still burn and the workers still get paid. Those are what passes for "cut backs" in the go/vermin mind. It's absolute madness. I can't figure out why folks flip them the bird and use e-mail. They think that extortion (that's what it is) will get them what they want... more of our cash from out of our pockets.

One vendor told me he thinks it's the contract USPS has with Amazon, which means Amazon packages are getting priority and non-Amazon packages are getting delayed. The service has been abominable, whatever the reason.

besides maybe Sunday deliveries (which hasn't happened often yet), all of my amazon packages have been delivered by UPS. I order stuff quite often on amazon, too...

I have in the last several months had 2 or 3 packages that took a very long time to arrive. In fact, I have a package that was shipped from Louisiana to here in Virginia, and it is going on two weeks to arrive.
Another sneaky thing they are doing, when they show estimated time of arrival, they show on time for delivery. When they are days late and finally deliver the package, they update the website with a new estimated delivery time, and post "delivered on time and on schedule". Who are they kidding?
I have tried to email them, but they want your name, address, and life history(well not quite that much info) before you can contact them. With all the news stories over the last year or so of how USPS employees have found ways to mess with people they don't like, I'm reluctant to give them that information. So you can't really even contact them to register a grievance. And I think they want it that way. Just like the rest of the governmental branches. "Hey, I know, let's bury our heads in the sand, right after we put on our rose colored glasses".

Yea the east coast USPS is not that great in its service. Of course I won't bad mouth anyone or the people that work there since they are probably doing their best with the resources given but no matter when I order from the east coast with 2 day. It ALWAYS takes atleast a week and half to receive. A little irritating that it's slower than standard mail and more expensive. But what if you get standard mail -.- your gonna have to wait for that for a month if they are taking priority by packages.

Would you shoot me your order number? I'll look into it for you. But yes, for whatever reason (seems to be a matter of budget and personnel cutbacks), the USPS on this side of the country has been moving fairly slowly for the past few months.
