Folks, this seems to happen every so often, so let’s remember:

• Dr. Jon’s Shaving Soap Co. (https://www.drjonshandcraftedsoapco.com/)
is not the same as
• Uncle Jon’s Soap (https://www.unclejonssoap.com/)
Smile

Another observation to set the two apart:

• Dr. Jon’s produces only vegan shaving soaps.
• Uncle Jon’s seems to now produce only tallow shaving soaps.

BPman, I’ve seen a few positive comments about Uncle Jon’s soaps on the Shave of the Day threads in the past few weeks. Hopefully there will be more comments on this thread, as I’m interested in learning more, too.

SHAVEWIZARD420, thanks for sharing your impressions. I recall someone once mentioning that Silk Road is among his all-time favorite soaps, which is high praise, indeed.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Silk Road is a spicy scent, reminds me a lot of CB LPV but Silk Road does not burn my skin. Will have to use the Uncle Jon's soap here in the next few days.

Got Uncle Jon's Laguna Biru from Maggard. It's not 4oz. Absolutely same cans from DG and APR. Different weight(lowest). Also volume is very low. And yes, I'm biased. Let the fireworks begin.

This thread popped up for me again. I'm going to make a COURSE & PHILOSOPHICAL CORRECTION here for everyone. Much has change for us in the 1 1/2 years since this thread. I no longer hold the view above. I feel that the line has been blurred by many makers and US. We worked hard to make our non tallow soap a top performer and our customers buy our tallow/non-tallow soaps and outside of the hobbyists community they don't ask or care.
So, bottom line, we no longer hold the position that a soap be judged on it's tallow or non-tallow basis, but on it's performance
