Even in the US Gillette was not particularly on the cutting edge with the Tech ... Conrad/Barbasol had patented their safety bar design in '33 and of course single edge razors of both the Gem and Schick blade type had been using safety bars for decades.

And it does not shamefully copy the Merkur style head as 99% do nowadays, but rather copies an old French/British razor thats usage of a safety bar pre-dates Gilette's Tech by approx. 10 years!!!

That one wins the under $30 category hands down in my book. It really is an efficient mid range aggression razor. Now I'm curious to hear about the timeless. I love it, but it is a little on the heavy side for me.

Yeah, I'm finding it a little too hefty as well.

I keep mine in a (leaded) case lest a breeze send it flying out the door.

What did you think about the shave though?

I'll post some more detailed thoughts after some more shaves, but my initial impression is that it might be a little much for daily shaving (which I do, aside from Saturday or Sunday).

OK, so after using the Timeless .95 for a good number of shaves I have determined that it is a very nice razor, just not for my needs. It is a little too much (aggressiveness) for daily shaving, but would surely excel if you were to only shave every 2-4 days. It provides an excellent BBS for me with multiple days growth. The fit and finish are top notch and I really like this handle too. I also like a razor with some heft to it, but this one is a little on the weighty side. Maybe the titanium version would be more suitable. I have heard some complaints about the bulkiness of the head, but I had no issues with it getting under the nose and into other tight spots. So all in all, great razor, looks awesome, but I personally would reserve it for those times when I haven't shaved in a few days. Thanks again EFDan for the opportunity. I'm going to go from the heaviest razor to the lightest and use the ATT Calypso R1 next!

Good points Jeff. I really like my 0.95 as it gives some very close and comfortable shaves. What blade(s) were you using? The Feather does wonders in that razor
