In regard to the residual scents, I can add...
MacDuffs has a very soft, almost sweet scent. I think of it as a natural, semi-sweet herbal scent. It is light and could easily be missed. However, if you look for it, it's there and rather pleasant.
In my current tub of Stirling Sheep, it's a rather strong scent of sheep Tallow. My new tub, however, is barely there. Almost like MacDuffs in the sweet, and light scented... But still with a tiny bit of sheep Tallow scent (that Macduffs obviously doesn't have).
If you want something I couldn't find any scent at all in, I'd steer you towards Zingari Man. Their unscented, to my nose, was completely blank. It's also a good performer.
While I didn't get a Tallow stink from Sir Henry's, it definitely wasn't "unscented" to my nose. If I am remembering correctly, it was an earthy scent that was light but definitely present and unmistakable IMO. Still, it's likely just the soap ingredients and wasn't anywhere near offensive.
Finally, I can't specifically speak to Ethos Clean as I have never used it. I did say it was a great choice for top tier, as I've used Ethos scented soaps in the past. They're good stuff. I just don't know how "invisible" they really are.
Now... Did Eric
MaineYooper weigh in here? He's the guy I always ask about unscented soaps. He's been scents-less for years.
