Tobacco Scent in Soap or Aftershave. Or Cologne

DG massacre of the innocents is a match of PDM Herod. I tried the scent a few months back and liked it. I ended up buying the DG set after reading the reviews. Yet to get in my hands but I am sure I am going to enjoy it. You might like Herod as a matching perfume to go along.

Another scent in soap that I like is Mystic waters Sweet Briar which is little sweeter.

I'm a big fan of Santa Maria Novella's Tabacco Toscano shave soap with just a touch of eucalyptus.
I have an Extró Tabacco soap on the way and I will let everyone know what I think about the performance and scent. I'm also interested in trying Henri et Victoria Cognac and cigar shave soap.

I'd almost forgotten, but I got a small tobacco & bay solid cologne from etsy seller TerraViam that was very nice.

There are a wide variety of tobacco scents. Some smell like tobacco flowers (WSP). Some smell like cigarette tobacco; some smell like cigar tobacco; some smell like various types of pipe tobacco (especially Cavendish blends). Then there are those that smell like an ash tray. Some are combined with other scents like leather, cognac, rum, etc. 

The Try That Soap web sites lists 333 different shaving products (soaps, creams, aftershaves, balms, etc. ) that contain a tobacco note.

Hmm   I don’t reckon on trying all of those soaps. I did discover a sample of the Henri et Victoria Cognac & Cubans in my stuff. I’ll give it a lather and see what I think

I rather like the scent of Henri et Victoria Cognac and Cuban Cigars. I have the less-expensive vegan base. The vegan formula has a simple ingredient list. Although it is a descent soap for the price, and many like it; I prefer soaps with better performance.

There is also a triple-milled tallow version that is significantly higher in price. I have not used it and I there are not a lot of reviews available for the tallow version. Thus, I have no idea whether the soap is worth the higher price. At the price of $27 USD  for 4 oz, it would have to be good enough to compete with the best artisan soaps currently available. It seems like many reviewers of the soap are recommending using either the aftershave splash or balm after shaving. With the best artisan soaps, I do not feel the need to use such post-shave products, even through my skin is sensitive. Thus, I do not plan on buying the tallow version, even though I like the scent.

Thanks RayClem , my sample must be the vegan version because its pretty soft.  The smell is nice though.  Its funny, some soaps shine in performance and others in scent while the best shine in both.  I've come to the place where I have many really good soaps that tick both boxes so a soap that only ticks one box better tick it in uppercase bold or I can't justify using it.  An example of one that doesn't quite manage it is Ogallala - I love the scent of the bay rum, limes and peppercorn and sage and cedar but the soap performance isn't where it needs to be, even with the GD preshave so I get my Ogallala scent fix buy using their toners which are decent and smell great.  Maybe that's what I'll have to demo with the H&V CC

I was afraid to even use it in the shower as I have a few other soaps. Even if I had been able to tolerate the clove, I still would have not used the soap as it was hard to lather, lacked slickness, and lacked cushion. I am glad it was an inexpensive soap.

I did the same thing.  I think Ogallala would make a great collaboration candidate with its scents and a decent soap base - imagine one of those scents in a Declaration Grooming Milk Steak Base.
