Tip: Removing scratches from mirror polished stainless steel razors

All you need is a foam nail file of 
6000 to 8000 grit.

Usually they come with one green side of 300 grit ,
while the white side is 6000 grit.
The fine side , looks like a simple white colored ,
soft foamy surface.
Extremely fine grit ,removes only 
superficial,light scratches.
Brings back the spotless mirror-finish 
in no time !
Caution : Use only the white ,fine grit side !
Not the green colored one !

This is a great tip. I was upset somehow my Carbon Cx-316L hot the tile floor and has a scratch on the polish finish of the cap. And I have some light scratches on my polished SS Blackbird as well. Might be worth a try!!!

I was given a sample ( a single piece ) of
such nail -file from a friend ,who is an
avid wrist watch collector.
He uses those kind of files to remove
the scratches from his expensive
watches ( Rolex ,Omega,etc).
Tried it on my Lupo and Game Changer .
At first I thought that the white side of file will
not be able to "pick up" any metal.
That fine and smooth it is !
But I was wrong .

I'm going to give this a shot. Will this work on most metals? I need to try it on Stainless and Sterling. Plus maybe anything else I have in razor form made from brass, bronze, steel, titanium, aluminum, copper, etc. Would it possibly polish matte surfaces also?

I'm not sure about matte surfaces.
6000 is a very -very fine grit.
It will work on stainless steel,as I 've
already experienced it myself.I guess
it will work just as fine on softer metals ,
like brass,copper and sterling silver.
Not sure about aluminium ,as this metal tends
to clog even the finest of files .

Do you need to wet the razor before sanding?

Gotcha. Thanks. I have no need to use it on aluminum right now just figured I'd include it since I have aluminum razors. My main objective right now is to try and remove a scratch form Stainless.

I had not though of that. I was just going to go at it dry. Haha.

No.No need to wet the razor before polishing 
( technically it's not sanding ) with the nail file.

What I should strongly suggest doing is 
to remove the green colored sandpaper 
on the other side of the foam file.
The 300 grit side.
It can be easily done with an utility knife,
with a fresh ,sharp blade.
It's a sticker actually.Just use the knife
to pull up a small area of the sticker-sandpaper and then 
remove the rest by hand .
By removing the 300 grit side,it is 
impossible to accidentally ...scratch the 
razor with this rough side.

The 6000 grit side does not look ,
neither feels to the touch as something that 
will actually "grind" .It feels like velvety soft ,
slightly rubbery surface.But trust me,will do the job 
of removing light scratches or dull spots of 
a mirror polished metal object.
