This new slim edition base plate is wire cut on our EDM machine for precise tolerances.  The rinse out ports are then cut on our CNC mill, then get hand polished and finally they are LASER ENGRAVED on our new laser engraver.  This new design makes getting under your nose and neck easier than ever.  This AGRESSIVE 0.5mm blade gap makes for a quick smooth shave.  Just don't press.  This is our most aggressive razor yet but with the right touch it provides a smooth efficient shave. As with all of our razor parts this is made in house by us in the USA. Choose from our selection of caps, handles, and stands to build your own razor.

It looks like they changed the baseplate, but not the top cap. I’m wondering how changing the baseplate alone would make it easier to get under the nose. I would think the top cap needs to be modified (i.e., made more shallow/flatter) to enhance the reach under the nose. But I’m no engineer, so whaddaeyeknoweanyway!

Hard to say unless they have the two top caps side by side (without the base plate ). It appears that the slim cap is not as domed and has less metal.

So there was a change only in the base plate correct?

Correct. Matt just confirmed this over email.

“Just don’t press.” Words to live by. So far, I’ve really liked and enjoyed every Timeless razor I’ve gotten. The Company is also really great. Recently, my brand new Ti 95 had some minor “burrs” on the handle, so I contacted Matt. He immediately sent me a pre-paid return label, and then quickly sent me a new proper handle and a sample soap, no questions asked. GREAT customer service. Really stand-up folks. Now I’m thinking this new more aggressive baseplate might be a really good one. (However, with only a couple of very brief exceptions, I haven’t shaved off my mustache in four decades!).
