Timeless 95 SB: First Shave Assessment (GODLY)

You nailed it as the amount of blade feel is just right. It is present yet not "threatening" yielding a very comfortable and smooth shave. The 95 gap is not as intimidating as the number may suggest. The SS head on your favorite Titanium handle makes it even more versatile and maneuverable if you want to treat yourself and not go all Timeless Titanium. The only drawback, for me, is the thickness of the Timeless head making it slightly tricky to get under the nose without a little effort - don't get me wrong it can be done it means you just need to pay attention. Start growing those roses for the better half so once you get it she will love your smooth shave.

I received this razor, a Timeless SS .95 SB in the high polished finish in a pass around on another forum. Just wanted to post my thoughts on it with just the 2nd shave on it and put a bit of a revival back into this thread. This razor deserves it and I didn’t want to open another thread topic. Hopefully the OP doesn’t mind me doing this.....



What can I say about this razor that hasn’t been said already, Gents? It delivered an amazing shave today without any fanfare. Paired it with a 2nd time use GP blade and it was pure bliss. A smoothness that is ever present with every passing stroke as it whittles down the hair on each subsequent pass. Mind you, it still has that ever present blade feel that is very welcome for my style of shaving. You feel that blade and its cutting action with superb audible feedback. Though one does get a nice amount of blade feel, it melds beautifully with the design of the razor head and the arc of the blades edge is in unison with the safety bars edge. Trust me, it’s not an intimidating feel at all but, rather a nice reminder that what you have in your hands is a razor that can cut whiskers with supreme efficiency. Don’t be careless with it and it will deliver the goods every single time. The Gillette Platinum is considered to be one of the best blades in the DE world and I’d have to say that with the Timeless .95, the pairing provides near perfection. The balance is just about right and the knurling on the handle gives perhaps the best feel of a razor I’ve experienced. Not to edgy or to smooth, just right. It simply is very well made, designed and executed from the top cap to the bottom of the handle. Timeless knows razors.....

Yep, my mind is made up. A few Surf & Turf outings with a few Rose deliveries thrown in should be a good start in convincing the Misses. A Man’s got to do what a Man’s got to do....

As usual an excellent detailed review Gus!  A little over a week ago I pulled out my high polished Titanium Timeless  95 DC .95 and had a memorable 2 pass BBS shave.  A great combination of smoothness and efficiency.

My summation and overall thoughts on the Timeless .95 SB that I had the pleasure of test driving over the past few days. It's a copy and past from the other forum. My apologies for the late post gents.....



Just finished up my third and final shave with the Timeless .95 SS. I see no need to continue more shaves with it as the 1st shave this past weekend pretty much convinced me that it is an exceptionally well made and finished razor. And is one that deserves to be in my shave den, no questions asked. Only issue is whether it will be Ti or Stainless and should I consider the full master kit or just a cap, base plate in either sb/oc and either a scalloped or smooth option. It definitely will be polished and I’m still leaning towards a Ti model but, we’ll see....

I really don’t have much to complain about to be honest. Maybe perhaps the Timeless is a bit heavier than I expected but, that’s just nitpicking. The weight aids in the shave itself and assures one that zero pressure will be required with this Titan. Balance overall is just superb and the feel in the hands is almost second nature. The blade is held in position with vise like clamping and the blade alignment is precise and equal on both sides. It’s one of the easiest razors to rinse and clean with those spacious lather channels (tunnels) and you can go on and on with shaving strokes without worrying about it clogging. If the razor happens to fall out of your hands its either there was an earthquake in your area higher than a magnitude 7 or, your just all butterfingers. The knurling on this particular handle is just perfect. Blade feel is Good God Almighty good yet, the razor exhibits a very nice smoothness and efficiency that is extremely gratifying. For the audible shaving gang, this is your huckleberry. Sings beautifully on every stroke and surprisingly the razor exhibits a nice range of adjustment in terms of blade feel and whether one is a cap rider or bar surfer, this baby still gets the job done. Maybe for some, that little bit of blade feel may be a bit to much but, there’s a .68 option available and that will definitely be smoother and potentially easier on ones skin. As it stands and how I received it in the .95 size, it’s nearly perfect. I‘ve shaved with it 3 consecutive days and not a hint of irritation or discomfort to speak of (2 tiny weepers from this evenings shave, totally on me though as I was speeding through the shave). One can honestly purchase this razor and truly not be in need of another shaving tool for as long as one could live. I know I could. My problem is that I like jumping down the rabbit hole. I know, I’m sick and I’m a razor-holic. But, that free-fall sure is fun.... Weeeeeee!!!

The razor has been cleaned and sanitized and is ready to get mailed out to the next recipient, @********  and I’ll pm tracking info to both the recipient & pass around host once dropped off at the Pony Express Office tomorrow after work.

As much as I enjoy the .95 stainless open comb, the .78 bronze open comb is the Timeless razor for me. I used it again this morning. It feels like a tank, with the least amount of blade chatter among all my DEs. No tugging. A truly unique shaving experience for me. It provides closer, longer-lasting shaves than my .95 stainless, as well. As I said, I also like the .95, but it’s a few steps behind the .78...

We all know what is said about opinions, but I would like some opinions on the following:

Currently using a Rockwell 6s with the R6 base. Seriously thinking about a .95 Timeless, but unsure if stainless or titanium. Other than weight, what would be the advantage of going with the titanium?

The Titanium has taken me a while to get used to because I feel I must add add a little pressure to the razor to shave, The weight on the stainless was sufficient on it's own for me. I have always liked Titanium as a material because of the look and feel. I don't think it shaves better, just different because of the weight."
