B8 reminds me most of B4, B6, and B7. B8 has nice backbone and density like B7, less soft tips like B6, and doesn’t gel and has individual fibers feel like B4. It’s a lot like B7 that doesn’t gel, but doesn’t have B7 soft tips. It’s a lot like B4 only better backbone and density.
Oh it takes a few shaves to break-in and lather well. It was a soap hog the first two shaves, but produced a nice lather on the third.

Seems like the initial reaction to B8 so far has it moving further away from what I’m looking for. I’m a gel fan and my B6’s are hands down my prized brushes in every category. Best knots I have ever used. I did buy a B7 and initially I really didn’t like it and found it had some scrub that I was not fond of. I knew it had no gel characteristics but I was ok with that as long as it was butter soft. I did read though that this scrub would subside after 12-15 uses and I can confirm it has let up and turned the brush into something that can make my rotation. If B8 is in fact less soft than B7 I may hold out sending in my handle I had made to hear more reviews first. Let’s keep this thread updated for with initial thoughts as well as after some use.
A few more b8’s out there now. I got one from the drop today and I have taken one from the drop previous. I’ve put maybe 3-4 lathers on it and it’s quite nice.
Has the soft tips of 7 with maybe backbone of 6. No gel as of yet but the tips are pretty slick early on so I suppose it’s possible. In my knot there are quite a few brown hairs that stick out like a sore thumb against the Snow White tips of this batch but don’t notice any resulting scritch or scrub from them.
