Third pass trick

Interestingly, while experimenting with different brushless cream prototypes, I stumbled upon this technique. I plan to create a blog post about it. I like the clever name Leisureguy came up for this method

I have personally come across this method, and others may have explored similar approaches. My goal is to popularize and encourage widespread adoption of this technique. I've shared my findings privately with some customers, and they have all been pleased with it.

Give this strategy a try for dealing with lather on the third pass. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your experience and feedback with us.

The link has more, but here are the basics:

1. Rinse as usual after the second (across-the-grain) pass.
   
2. Squeeze the brush knot to expel the rich lather from the knot’s core.
   
3. Use your hands to spread the lather over the shaving area of your face.
   
4. Leaving the lather in place, clean the brush, rinsing the knot under hot water until the water runs clear, then under cold water. Shake the brush well, then stand the damp brush on its base to dry.
   
5. Shave the final pass, against the grain except for any areas where you tend to get in-growns. For those, shave across the grain in the direction opposite to the direction used in the second pass.
   

The method has three primary benefits. And I named it "the Aion method."

And BTW, that Yaqi razor is remarkably good, so the <$9 price is a great bargain.

Even with two-pass shaves, I have achieved the same result. The lather that remains trapped in the brush and washed away provides the finest lather for a shave.

It's worth a shot. If I ever get some Aion soap, I'll have to give it a try.

Lol. Upcoming, eeh? Well, I did get my TARDIS fixed tomorrow. So I was able to buy some last week. . (Dr Who, anyone?)

I'll post how it worked for me.

Edit: When it says against the grain, he means the last - most sensitive pass... Right? If I mapped the grain of my neck, it would look something like this (a Wyle Coyote creation, for sure).

Its definitely the most-worked lather...
But also, I think there's something to say for rubbing the lather into your skin with your fingers/hand... It has more pressure than any brush can give so I think it very thoroughly coats every bit of area very densely (protectively). Always more comfortable shaving when I rub the lather in with my hands/fingers.

My method, which I've been doing for years is a variation of this. I face lather all three passes, then after the third pass I'll do a final face lather and let it sit while I'm cleaning my gear. I then rinse my face and check for any areas one last time that may need extra attention. This way I get maximum exposure to the goodness contained within the lather.

I used to do the same thing. I highly recommend trying this. The solubilized lather is significantly slicker than in earlier stages of the shave.
