As a UPS driver I try my best to treat everyone's package as though it were mine.  I go the extra mile to take care of my customers. There are still some good delivery people out there.

Yes, although the USPS is not alone.  I had two packages, both shipped priority mail, both accepted by USPS on 11/30, and both shipped within CONUS.  One arrived on 12/7 and the other on 12/8.  I also have a parcel with three prescription meds that was accepted on 12/2 and has not arrived, and a FEDEX package that was bollixed up and got here late.  UPS ordered its people not to pick up any packages whatsoever from six major retailers on or after cyber Monday.  (I don't remember the precise details.)

The combination of holiday shopping and COVID fueled demand has overloaded a system whose employees are, for the first holiday season ever, at risk of (or already sick from) COVID-19.  I don't like the delays, but I am nevertheless inclined to cut them some slack.

I have been waiting for a package from Myrtle Beach, SC accepted by USPS on 11/30/20. Suppose to be delivered to me today in metro Detroit. One week ago FedEx delivered a shave brush to me from Shavemac in Germany. It was posted in Germany and delivered to me in 4 days.

Back when my son was playing youth/highschool/university basketball I used to have to order his size 15 shoes online from US vendors - apparently Canadian kids don't have feet that big.  My wife and I were on a first name basis with the UPS guy we saw him so frequently.  He's great.  Right now I don't think he's that impressed though as I've ordered 6 kettlebells from Rogue (US made) Ranging from 9lbs to 53 lbs and they've been arriving for a week now (last 2 today) They're packed in small compact boxes but they're heavy.  I am very grateful for the hardworking men and women from the courier companies and the postal services.  Tough times right now but they're getting it done.    An example of how tough things are overall - a couple of weeks ago I was out on the driveway when the Amazon delivery guy pulled up to drop off a package and we got to talking. - it was his first day on the job.  He's a laid off airline pilot from Air Canada flying Dash-8s. Mid 30s young family, Christmas on the way but he's doing what it takes to support his loved ones.  Gratitude.

I feel your pain my brother, having been there and done that more than once.  It's like -  at no extra  charge to you - the USPS is giving you an all expense paid trip to the land of UNBELIEVABLE #($%ING IDIOCY.  But don't worry amigo.  IIRC, Emily Post says you need not send them a thank you note.  And BTW, your acknowledgement of their difficulties is a nice touch of class.  It's just that, at the end of the day, it all still sucks.

I hope your goods get to you in time for Christmas Dave.

Thanks Mike, I don't need it by any specific time. Just find it comical when you see what makes no sense and understand the putting on the wrong truck could be an accident due to over stressed and understaffed workers.

I’m glad you’re not in a rush for it, and I suspect that machine sorters and scanners running over capacity, and maybe with too little maintenance for too long, play a part in these things. Of course they can’t run at ideal capacity or be maintained ideally when demand spikes off the chart and the supply of healthy (trained) workers drops. It is still frustrating. BTW you are the second person i have run across in 24 hours with this situation. The other is a Facebook friend, a pastor in Idaho.
